5 July 2023 - Jason Blum Talks FNAF

In a new interview with IGN, the founder and producer of Blumhouse, Jason Blum, has provided an explanation as to why the upcoming horror game adaptation was not a straightforward decision to make into a movie.

“I really love a challenge,” he stated. “Scott had been working on it as a movie with a studio for a while and that didn't work out, this is many years ago. Everyone said we could never get the movie done, including, by the way, internally in my company. I was made fun of for pursuing this, this thing that could never happen, and that always lights a fire under me to say, ‘I bet I can do this’.”

12 May 2023 - Five Nights At Freddy's Trailer Leaked

A Five Nights at Freddy's movie trailer showcasing the animatronics, other characters, and action in the movie was leaked and posted to Twitter last week.

The trailer, which was uploaded in two parts from an anonymous source, has since been taken down from Twitter, YouTube, and other platforms after NBC Universal filed a copyright claim on the material.

In an interview on YouTube with WeeklyMTG, Matthew Lillard claimed that he signed a three-movie deal for Five Nights At Freddy's - meaning we'll more than likely see at least three films in the series!

Update 19 April 2023 - The release date for the Five Nights At Freddy's Movie is October 27, 2023!

A release date or release window for the Five Nights At Freddy's movie has yet to be announced, but what we do know is that filming for the movie will begin in February 2023 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

With filming starting so early in 2023, it's possible that Five Nights at Freddy's will see a late 2023 release on the big screen. 

On the other hand, though, it's possible that it could take longer to shoot and edit the movie, meaning it could be released as late as early to mid-2024. Since we don't have any official information from the studio about when it will be released, all we can really do right now is speculate.

Five Nights At Freddy's Movie Cast

While a full cast list for Five Nights at Freddy's has not been released yet, we do know that several very familiar faces will be playing roles in the movie. According to Deadline, Matthew Lillard and Josh Hutcherson will act in the film adaptation of Five Nights At Freddy's.

In a charity livestream, Five Nights At Freddy's streamer Dawko revealed that Matthew Lillard would take on the role of William Afton, the movie's primary antagonist. Josh Hutcherson, on the other hand, will play Mike Schmidt, the protagonist and night security guard at Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria.

Here is the full list of Five Nights at Freddy's cast members announced so far:

  • Matthew Lillard - William Afton
  • Josh Hutcherson - Mike Schmidt
  • Mary Stuart Masterson - Unnamed villain
  • Piper Rubio - Mike's younger sister

The movie, which Blumhouse will produce, will be written by Scott Cawthon, Emma Tammi, and Seth Cuddeback. It will be produced by Scott Cawthon and Jason Blum.

The Five Nights At Freddy's movie will follow the games' plot, according to Deadline. This likely means that the characters from the iconic franchise will appear in the movie, including all four of the animatronics from the first game, as well as Mike Schmidt, the night guard, and William Afton.
