Nomadland won the big award of the night at this year’s Academy Awards, taking home the Best Picture Oscar, while the film’s director Chloe Zhao and star Frances McDormand also ended the evening victorious.
Regina King introduced the ceremony, which due to Covid restrictions took place in a train station, with winners being beamed in by video from all over the world. And the prizes were handed out to different films all across the board.
Anthony Hopkins won the Best Actor award (The Father), Best Supporting Actor was Daniel Kaluuya (Judas and the Black Messiah), and Best Supporting Actress Yuh-Jung Youn (Minari).

The writing awards went to Promising Young Woman and The Father, while elsewhere there were multiple doubles, including Mank (cinematography, production design), Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom (costume, make-up and hair), and Sound of Metal (editing, sound).

Pixar hit Soul was named Best Animated Film, Another Round won Best International Film, and My Octopus Teacher took home the Best Documentary award.
