NBA 2K22: Release date, cover stars, trailer, leaks, more.

Even though we may be blue that the NBA season is coming to an end, 2K gives us plenty of reasons to keep our sneakers on and keep shouting: “nothing but net”.

There is actually quite the expectation about the NBA 2K22 because it will be the second coming of the “Impact Engine” that was released with the generational change of consoles last winter.

This revamped gameplay design gave us the most beautiful and realistic NBA experience for gamers to date. Here we will help you keep track of every update and leak about this game.

When does NBA 2K22 come out?

This year seems to maintain the streak as we expect the main game with the start of autumn. There are a few certainties in our world and balling in September seems to be one of them.

A leak suggests that we will have access to the game on all platforms on September 10th.

Since 2015 we have been able to get our hands on the 2K basketball franchise game before the ninth month ends, which the leaked date ties into.

We may get official confirmation and a deep dive later this month at EA Play Live 2021.

If patterns are any indication for a timeline we should not have to wait much longer to have the first glimpse of the new game.

Although there was expectation about a trailer or a peek of new gameplay during this years E3 we ended up empty-handed.

It was last year, during June when this franchise predecessor was announced via YouTube, so we are certain that something will hit the light in the next couple of weeks.

Cover stars

Besides F1 and Nascar, one of our favourite races is to figure out who will be enshrined as the cover athlete of our prefered sport, and NBA 2K it’s no stranger to that conversation.

This year we find three constant names among the candidates to appear as this years’ frontman: reigning MVP C Nikola Jokic, Wizards’ G Bradley Beal and Mavericks’ All-Star G Luka Doncic.

We will have to wait to find out who takes this year protagonism.

NBA 2K22 leaks

Speaking of the Slovenian star, last month it seemed as he was the chosen one for the main game cover as the Instant Gaming website had the profile loaded with him as part of the cover art.

It seems that it was just a heat of the moment upload as nothing was able to be confirmed.

What seems way more real is the Legends cover art as 2K Intel shared via Twitter a photograph of the alleged game where we can see legends Lakers’ Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Mavericks’ Dirk Nowitzki accompanied by Nets’ star Kevin Durant.

This version, which celebrates NBA’s 75th anniversary, will supposedly include extra content (not specified yet), accessibility to play on both console generations and 100,000 VC as part of the purchase.

It is also presumed that tomorrow will be a key day for 2K as more information could be released regarding brand new features and the confirmed cover athlete.
