New World: Minimum, recommended system requirements

Currently, the New World alpha is ongoing as more and more players are invited to enter Aeternum to explore the world before the closed beta or full release. 

While this alpha isn’t able to be broadcasted or discussed, there is some information that we know about the upcoming MMO from Amazon Games. Aside from the basic details like price, release date, server size, etc., the developers have answered a plethora of burning questions from community members. 

One of those questions pertains to the minimum and recommended specifications for New World. The title will only be available on PC so naturally, there are questions about whether or not players can actually run the game on their machine. 

Luckily for this crowd, the developers have divulged both the minimum and recommended specs for the full version of the game. Of course, these specs are relative to a number of other hardware-related aspects (RAM, temperatures, storage, etc.) but for most gamers, the specs will be a telltale sign if they can run New World. 

New World will only be playable on PC.

Here are the minimum and recommended specifications for New World on PC:

Minimum

• Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
• OS: Windows 10 64-bit
• Processor: Intel Core i5-2400 / AMD
• CPU with 4 physical cores @ 3Ghz
• Memory: 8 GB RAM
• Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 2GB / AMD Radeon R9 280 or better
• DirectX: Version 12
• Network: Broadband Internet connection

Recommended

• Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system.
• OS: Windows 10 64-bit.
• Processor: Intel Core i7-2600k, AMD Ryzen 5 1400
• Memory: 16 GB RAM
• Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970, AMD Radeon R9 390X
• DirectX: Version 12
• Disk: SSD
• Network: Broadband Internet connection

As you can see, the recommended requirements aren’t too extreme whatsoever. A first-gen Sandy Bridge Intel Core i7 processor isn’t too modern and should be accessible by a wide variety of players. As for the graphics cards, a GTX 670 or 970 and second and third gen Radeon cards should be in most modern systems at the least.

New World isn’t too demanding of a game on lower settings but can eat up some FPS if the settings are turned up to the max and you switch from 1080p to 1440p or 4k displays. However, the important aspect to remember is the game can run on ten-year old systems, which should make it accessible to a large amount of players.
