Can You Still Merge Overwatch 2 Account With Overwatch 1 After Its Release?

If you plan on diving into Overwatch 2, the sequel to the first action-packed hero shooter phenomena, then it's likely that you might want to merge your previous account into the current title. Especially when considering the vast amounts of progress and unique items that you'll want to bring into Overwatch 2.

So below we will be discussing whether or not you can still merge your new Overwatch 2 account with your previous Overwatch account now that the game has been released.

Can You Still Merge Overwatch 2 Account With Overwatch 1 After Its Release?

The short answer to this question is yes, you can now easily merge your accounts to retrieve all of your previously collected content and resources and merge them into your Overwatch 2 account. This process is fairly simple and will be outlined in the steps to follow below.

To merge your Overwatch accounts, use the following steps:

  1. Log in to Overwatch from your console account.

  2. Follow the on-screen prompts to scan a QR Code on your mobile phone.

  3. Enter the code displayed on your console to connect to or create your Blizzard Battle.net Account.

  4. Once complete, you will be prompted to confirm your account upon the next game login to merge your accounts.

Regardless of which platform you bought a specific skin on, should you link that platform account to Battle.net for Overwatch 2, those cosmetics will be available once the merger is finished upon your next login. All currently owned skins from the original Overwatch should transfer across using the merging method listed above.

Blizzard has experienced problems since Overwatch 2's launch, which was only recently. Due to this, some players have discovered that some, or all, of their previously owned cosmetics are missing when they first start the game, even after merging their accounts.

Blizzard has stated in their Known Issues blog post that "some cosmetics, items, and currency that players own are not showing up in their collections," even though there is currently no fix for this issue. The cosmetics are linked specifically to your account, so once the problem is fixed, they will show up in your collection. With that in mind, a fix is probably on the way soon.

Last but not least, players should be aware that they can only link one console account per platform to their Battle.net accounts. This means you can have a PlayStation, Xbox, PC, etc all linked, but not more than one of each.
