Developer Singularity 6 has officially launched the first expansion for their cozy MMO, Palia, The Elderwood, which coincided with the game's PlayStation and Xbox launches and the v0.191 patch update. The update brought a host of global adjustments, optimizations, and bug fixes; the expansion added a new Adventure Zone, a new questline, and other additional content.

Speaking of the new questline, Palians who have met specific requirements will be greeted by a new cutscene, which shows a distressing event happening in Kilima Village, to which Subira enlists them to investigate what has happened. As such, our Palian journey to The Elderwood begins with the Answering the Call quest, as we outlined its quest objectives and provided a detailed walkthrough for completion in Palia.

Palia Answering The Call Quest Objectives List

"A few weeks later, somewhere in Kilima," following the conclusion of the Rooted in Place quest, Subira, Jina, and Hekla are still consulting one another regarding the mysteries and secrets discovered in the Temples questline. With a stranger being somewhat involved in activating a specific protocol measure, as noted in the database, a strange event occurred in Kilima Village, alarming Subira, Jina, and Hekla as a result.

This begins the brand new questline, which eventually leads Palians to the next Adventure Zone, the neighboring yet mysterious The Elderwood, but first, there are a few matters to attend to, of which Einar finds themselves on the Housing Plot. Let's look at the quest objectives for the Answering the Call quest in Palia:

  • Speak to Einar on your plot
  • Meet Subira in the Night Sky Temple
    • Ask the Gardener for more details
  • Meet Subira further inside.
  • Find another way around
  • Speak to Subira again
  • Inspect the console
  • Find all the logbooks (7/7)
  • Unlock the console
    • Talk to Subira
  • Tell Subira what you found

How To Complete The Answering The Call Quest In Palia?

A mysterious event occurred in Kilima Village that baffled the residents, but more importantly, Subira, a Watcher from The Order, and Jina, who had been assisting her since the closing moments of the Strange Things Afoot quest. As Subira, Jina, and Hekla confer on what they had seen, Einar appears on the Housing Plot to inquire if they had seen the fluorescent beams that descended onto Kilima Village, and they revealed that they received a message from The Gardener.

This message was transmitted to Einar that the Cosmo Protocol Lockdown procedure had been deactivated, which is bad news, as also reiterated by Subira when Einar spoke to her. As such, the Watcher requests their urgent presence within the Night Sky Temple, to which Palians can proceed traveling to this location; however, there's an option to head to the Temple of Roots and inquire additional information from the Watcher themselves.

If they head to the Temple of Roots first, they'll learn from the Watcher that he's frustrated that they're not dealing with the pressing matter and wasting time inquiring with them. But speaking with the Watcher again, just to say "hi" at least, they reward them with a Green candied egg, and they can head to the Night Sky Temple to meet with Subira, Jina, and Hekla.

Getting everyone up to speed on what had happened, Subira reiterated that the Flowrescent (Flow) beams struck Kilima Village, which could be seen in neighbouring villages. The Gardener had informed Einar, who informed Subira, Jina, Hekla, and the Player that the Cosmo Protocol Lockdown procedure was forcibly disabled, which Palians can suspect that the intruder was possibly involved, and a door previously inaccessible within the Night Sky Temple is now unlocked.

Subira and the Player must go through the doors to investigate, and once meeting Subira inside, she'll inform them that the path is blocked and they must find another way around to reach the blocked-off area. There are two hidden areas found on either side of the room where the blocked-off area is, and they can go to their right by the bookcase and, using a Pickaxe, break the destructible stone wall to find a hidden room and the first record nearby.

Next is to go left and destroy the wall here before finding a space to the left where the second record is found before making a quick right turn twice down the corridor and destroy another wall on the left where entering this hidden room is where the third record is found tucked near a corner. Leave the room and climb up the steel grates, moving to the right to land onto a platform before jumping over the gaping hole to find the fourth record near a bookcase.

Jump across to reach the corridor by another gaping hole before turning right and destroying the floor here and dropping down into another hidden room, where breaking the wall on the left is where the fifth record is found. Turn around to face the destroyed wall, which is a corridor with three stone walls on the left and right to destroy, but the first room on the left is empty, the second left-side room has an Ancient Treasure Chest to loot, and the first room on the right is also empty.

Proceed to the third left-side room, which contains the sixth record, while the second right-side room has another destructible floor to break, but before doing so, head to the third right-side room, where the seventh and final record is located. Return to the second rightside room and break the stone floor and drop down into another hidden space where another chest is found behind the grates and navigating throughout this room, turning right by the pipes before climbing up and move slightly to the right onto the platform where the final wall can be destroyed to reach the blocked-off area and speak to Subira.

While talking to Subira, they can inform her that records were found, and she'll let them know there's a console ahead to be inspected. If they hadn't found the records before entering the blocked-off area, the first time interacting with the console reveals that the console can be unlocked with a clue that the password is found on each of the seven records.

Speak to Subira about this development, which she'll hand over another record containing lunch orders, and read through each record to find a letter or symbol at the end of each record. Do this for all seven records, which make up the password, and they can head back to the console and unlock it using the password to access it.

With the console unlocked, they'll learn that they're inside the Temple of the Cosmos and they can view through the protocols, messages, and user logs, of which the latter they'll learn that someone with Admin 1 access had successfully engaged the Mirror Protocol and disabled Safe Mode five days earlier.

After informing Subira of the discoveries upon inspecting the console and the data, they'll let her know that The Elderwood Tap is active, but Subira is unsure what this means. She tasks them to follow this lead and continue the investigations in The Elderwood while she heads off to speak to Eshe and The Order on the recent information following the events.

Subira will escort them to the entrance of the Temple of the Cosmos inside the Night Sky Temple, thus concluding the Answering the Call quest for Palia. This unlocks the next quest, The Elderwood and Palians will receive 25 Renown and increased Friendship with Subira upon the quest's completion.
