Pokémon GO Ditto Disguises (February 2024): All Current Disguised Pokémon

Is it or not? Ditto is a deceptive Pokémon, but it's pretty easy to spot, so here are all current Ditto disguises and how to catch in Pokémon GO.

Everyone's favorite gelatinous Pokémon, Ditto, plays a vital role in almost every game it appears in, and Pokémon GO is no exception. Finding this Pokémon can be a little trickier in this game, unlike the mainline games where Ditto can be regularly found in the wild.

Ditto will adopt a disguise based on various Pokémon; and the list of Pokémon that Ditto could be disguised as constantly changes. If you want to catch a Ditto, we've listed all the Pokémon you should look for during Pokémon GO's Season of Timeless Travels.

Within Pokémon lore, the Normal-type Pokémon has been commonly known for its transforming abilities to mimic other Pokémon, despite it not having an evolution line. It achieves this by restructuring its cellular makeup to transform or in this case, disguise as other organisms, like fellow Pokémon.

Finding Ditto can be slightly challenging as it's found in Wild encounters as a disguised Pokémon as the only way of knowing is by catching the Pokémon. Let's look at all current Ditto Disguises in Pokémon GO as of December 2023, according to a prominent source, Leek Duck:

  • Bidoof
  • Goldeen
  • Gothita
  • Koffing
  • Numel
  • Oddish
  • Rhyhorn
  • Solosis
  • Spinarak
  • Stufful

Unfortunately, there is no way of discerning whether or not any of these Pokémon on the minimap could potentially be Ditto. The only way to find one is to catch as many of these listed Pokémon as you can and pray that one happens to be a Ditto in disguise.

How To Catch A Disguised Ditto In Pokémon GO?

As for the potential of encountering a Shiny Ditto, there is a catch to it, as you'll need to encounter any of the listed Pokémon in their Normal form. Unfortunately, this means that a Shiny Bidoof won't transform into a Shiny Ditto, so be on the lookout for any of the mentioned Normal-type Pokémon for them to transform into Ditto.

It was possible to obtain a guaranteed wild Shiny Ditto during the Pokémon GO: Kanto Tour event and the Pokémon GO Tour: Hoenn in February 2023. Alternatively, it could be included as a reward encounter or part of the event's Field or Special Research story, which we'll provide more details about once they've become available.

Aside from filling up the Pokédex, Ditto has tons of uses in Pokémon GO, where it's often used for breeding, just like the mainline games. Likewise, it could be tied to in-game quests (such as the "Let's GO, Meltan" mission), meaning catching one becomes a requirement to progress a milestone.

That being said, another way of determining if you are encountering a Ditto is if a Pokémon that's generally easy to catch suddenly gives you a challenge; chances are that it's a Ditto. Lastly, when attempting to catch the Pokémon, it will produce a different catch animation that will reveal itself as a Ditto.
