How To Get Hoopa Unbound In Pokémon GO

Hoopa Unbound is set to make a return to the incredibly challenging Elite Raids in Pokémon GO. The powerful Psychic and Dark-type Pokémon boasts an incredibly high Attack stat and equally devastating Fast and Charge attacks. Needless to say, you'll want to catch Hoopa Unbound if you don't already have one. 

This article will cover how to initiate Elite Raids and how to catch Hoopa Unbound (as well as the best counters you can bring to try and take down this powerful Pokémon). 

How To Catch Hoopa Unbound In Pokémon GO

Firstly, before being able to encounter Hoopa Unbound, players will need to initiate an Elite Raid. Elite Raids appear from special Raid Eggs that take 24 hours to hatch. Once hatched, a Raid Boss will appear for thirty minutes. It should also be noted that players cannot use a Remote Raid Pass to participate in Elite Raids, and Elite Raid bosses must be battled in person. 

Hoopa Unbound's appearance in Elite Raids will last from Sunday, November 13 at 11 am local time - Sunday, November 13 at 5 pm local time. It is recommended to bring at least 4-7 players to take on this Raid. It should also be noted that Elite Raids begin at the following times and will last for a maximum of thirty minutes. 

  • 11 am local time
  • 2 pm local time
  • 5 pm local time

The overall window for catching Hoopa Unbound is very narrow, so make sure you and your friends are all ready for when Elite Raid eggs start appearing on top of gyms.

Once Hoopa Unbound is defeated, players will have the opportunity to catch it. This is easier said than done, however, and it is recommended to bring as many powerful Bug-type Pokémon as you can to try and take it down. Some notable recommendations include the following:

  • Genesect
  • Scizor
  • Mega Scizor
  • Yanmega
  • Escavalier
