The Season of Mythical Wishes brought plenty of magic and splendor, with plenty of Pokémon to encounter and even more rewards for Trainers to earn. As we can expect more themed events for the remainder of the season, Trainers can count their lucky stars as the Lunar New Year observance approaches.

Likewise, Niantic will bring back its Lunar New Year-themed event to Pokémon GO as Darumaka returns and a few hopping Pokémon to ensure the year brings prosperity, good fortune, and luck. We've detailed everything about the Lunar New Year event, including the event schedule, wild encounters, event bonuses, and more.

Pokémon GO Lunar New Year – Event Dates & Times

Trainers can celebrate the Year of the Rabbit with the upcoming Lunar New Year event in Pokémon GO, which begins on 19th January 2023 at 10 am local time and concludes on 23rd January 2023 at 8 pm local time. During this event, several Pokémon, including Bunnelby and Buneary, will spawn more often in wild encounters for those lucky Trainers with chances of encountering their Shiny forms.

Additionally, there are plenty of Raid battles to look forward to and more Pokémon to hatch from 7km Eggs, with the likelihood of Shiny Pokémon to be hatched from Incubators. Lastly, themed Field and Timed Research will be made available for the event's duration, and you could earn an encounter with Shiny Darumaka as a reward.

Darumaka will be making its seasonal return to Pokémon GO for the Lunar New Year event, as it made its in-game debut at this event in 2020. Likewise, this Pokémon, Galarian Darumaka, and their Shiny forms will be appearing more frequently in various encounters and as rewards when completing the themed Field and Timed Research tasks.

As the Lunar New Year is about prosperity, health, luck, and family, various event bonuses will ensure you are the luckiest Trainer. Additionally, you can choose your preferred bonuses from the Timed Research, which will be offered as rewards upon completion.

These bonuses, mainly centered around luck, will boost your chances of encountering Shiny Pokémon, earning more Stardust and more, which we've outlined below:
