Can Munchlax Be Shiny In Pokemon GO?

The Greedy Gluttons event is bringing tons of content to the world of Pokémon GO. Guzzlord is being added as a Five-Star Raid boss, while plenty of other Pokémon are popping up as rewards for Research Missions.

What kind of gluttony event would this be if the original gluttons themselves, Snorlax and Munchlax, didn't make an appearance? Thankfully, both of these Pokémon will be appearing throughout the Greedy Gluttons event, so make sure you pick them up if you haven't done so already. If you want to snag a Munchlax directly without needing to breed, you can acquire it via hatching 7 KM eggs.

But the question still stands, can any of these Munchlax you acquire be shiny? Let's find out!

Will There Be A Shiny Munchlax In The Pokémon GO Greedy Gluttons Event?

Yes, there will be a shiny version of Munchlax. The Greedy Gluttons event will be the debut of shiny Munchlax, and players have a chance of obtaining Munchlax via 7 KM eggs, as mentioned previously. Or, if you want a shiny Snorlax and want to skip the trouble of evolving a Munchlax, Shiny Snorlax has a chance to be shiny from Three-Star Raids, wild encounters, and the wild encounter reward from Timed Research task completion.

Munchlax and Snorlax have never had the best shiny forms. Their faded color does become more pronounced when shiny, but it's hardly the stark departure from the traditional color scheme that we've come to expect from shiny forms over the years.

Munchlax's shiny is at least a little more pronounced, but Snorlax's shiny form is barely even noticeable. We would not hold it against anyone who keeps their shiny Munchlax in its baby form instead of evolving it into a more powerful Snorlax. That being said, a lackluster shiny Pokémon is still a shiny Pokémon at the end of the day and a rare addition to anyone's Pokémon GO collection.
