Pokémon GO World Championships 2023: How To Claim Timed Research Codes

The Pokémon GO World Championship 2023 has landed in Yokohama, Japan, and developer Niantic is celebrating this championship event with various activities for Trainers globally. One such activity is the exclusive Timed Research which Trainers can claim during the Pokémon GO World Championships by watching all the competitive action live on Twitch.

The Timed Research codes can be retrieved by watching the Pokémon GO World Championship 2023 during the Day 1 or 2 broadcasts and rebroadcasts. This guide outlines how Trainers can claim the Timed Research codes and their possible rewards for Pokémon GO.

21st August 2023 Update: We've updated this guide to reflect that the Limited Timed Research codes are no longer available to redeem for Pokémon GO during the World Championship 2023 event. The original reporting continues below.

How To Claim The Pokémon GO World Championships Timed Research Codes?

There will be two Timed Research codes for them to claim via Twitch, in which they’ll need to watch a minimum of 30 minutes of the livestreams for the first two days of broadcast. However, should you miss the livestreams, rebroadcasts will be available for the remaining days of the Pokémon GO World Championship for them to get these codes.

These are the dates and times provided by Niantic for the two livestreams of the Pokémon GO World Championships 2023 broadcasting on the official Pokémon GO Twitch channel:

  • Day 1: 11th August 2023, starting at 12 am UTC
  • Day 2: 12th August 2023, beginning at 12 am UTC

Claiming the Day 1 and 2 Timed Research codes will be available until 20th August 2023 at 12 am UTC to redeem through the Redeem Offer Code page here. Trainers can only claim one Timed Research code per account, so don’t delay; grab your codes and redeem them to be rewarded with various battle items and more.

Below we’ve detailed how Trainers can claim the Pokémon GO World Championships Timed Research codes via Twitch:

  1. On Twitch, search and follow the official Pokémon GO Twitch channel and enable notifications to be alerted when the livestreams begin.
  2. On the Pokémon GO Twitch stream window, there will be a panel labeled Pokémon GO giveaway; click on the Share Twitch ID button to join for your time watched to be tracked.
  3. Watch at least 30 minutes of either Day 1 or Day 2 or the rebroadcasts to receive a code.
  4. Should you have successfully watched 30 minutes or more, a new button will appear on the giveaway panel for you to claim the reward
  5. Click on the Timed Research code to copy it to your clipboard before redeeming it on the Redeem Offer Codes page to claim the Timed Research.

Trainers can also get a Star Piece, a Premium Battle, and 8,000 Stardust, along with other additional rewards. Details on this and more will be provided once new information has been provided.

Day 2’s Timed Research celebrates the achievements of the 2022 Pokémon GO Master’s Division World Champion, DancingRob. As such, Trainers will be able to get one of the Pokémon, Galarian Stunfisk, that helped him secure the championship victory, along with other amazing rewards, including an Elite Charged Technical Machine (TM).

Lastly, a planned global celebration will occur in-game during the Pokémon GO World Championships for Trainers to participate in. Likewise, the 2023 Worlds Tee (Yellow) will also be available to claim and is distributed via a redeem code, 4DSJTSPX4B9AH, which can be redeemed in-game.
