Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Reveals Greavard A New Ghost-Type

The goodest of boys has just been revealed for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet! Here's everything we know so far about Greavard!
Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Reveals Greavard A New Ghost-Type

Perfectly timed for the Halloween season, Greavard is the most recent entry in the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Pokédex. After a small teaser released on YouTube, the new Ghost-type dog Pokémon Greavard has been officially revealed.

We are only a few weeks away from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's official release, and if Greavard's design is anything to go by, the Generation 9 games are shaping up to have some of the best Pokémon yet! Let's check out Greavard in more detail.

Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Greavard Details

Greavard is a mono Ghost-type Pokémon that, according to the official Pokémon Twitter account, is said to "slowly and inadvertently absorb the life-force of those around it."

The teaser trailer gave us a hint at this, showing a curious Pokémon trainer's encounter with a wild Greavard. After only a few seconds of being in close contact with the ghost dog, the trainer keels over!

Unlike other candle Pokémon (such as Litwick and Chandelure), Greavard is not a Fire/Ghost-type Pokémon. Maybe if it receives an evolution or two, we will see a secondary typing.

However, considering so many Fire/Ghost types are set to hit the Paldea region (including Hisuian Typhlosion and the rumored final Fuecoco ghost pepper evolution), maybe Greavard will stay as just a Ghost-type. You can check out the full Greavard reveal here.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are right around the corner, and as more and more news trickles in, we will do our best to keep you updated with everything that is coming to the Paldea region!
