Best Shiny Sandwich Recipes in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

One of the most interesting new features in Pokémon Scarlet, and Violet is the introduction of picnics. Not only do picnics make breeding a lot easier, but the many recipes available allow for tons of different in-game boosts. From increased damage to faster egg production, there is a lot of fun in trying to find the perfect sandwich recipe.

One of the most impactful types of recipes out there allows you to increase your shiny odds drastically. This is done by not only increasing the overall chance to find a shiny but by boosting the number of encounters you will have of a certain type in any area. When combined, this allows players to encounter tons of Pokémon at once in order to find a shiny, hopefully. If this sounds like something you want to try out, look no further! This article will cover everything you need to know about shiny sandwich recipes in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Picnics
You can buy picnic ingredients from various food outlets across Paldea.

The three buffs you want to acquire from whatever sandwich you make are Sparkling Power Lv.3, Title Power Lv.3, and Encounter Power Lv.3. These will be tailored to the specific type of the Pokémon you want to hunt, ensuring you can have more wild encounters with increased shiny odds. These effects will last for thirty minutes or will end instantly after you close out of the game.

Most of the ingredients to make the shiny sandwiches can be bought at various food shops in Mesagoza or other towns. Unfortunately, the most integral ingredient to make shiny sandwiches is Herba Mystica, which is locked behind five and six-star Raids. These items have a random chance to drop each time you defeat a Raid Boss and cannot be traded between games.

Picnic
Use Herba Mystica to increase your shiny odds!

At first, it was thought that any shiny sandwich recipe would require at least one Salty Herb Mystica. This makes things that much harder as now you are not only farming Raids for a random drop but a specific random drop. Thankfully, it was recently discovered that this was no longer the case. It isn't known exactly where this discovery was first made, but Silent Destroyer on Twitter posted an updated recipe chart that allows players to use any combination of Herba Mysticas at their disposal to shiny hunt any Pokémon type in the game.

Here is the full breakdown of shiny sandwich recipes:

  1. Use one serving of Tomato + Onion + Green Bell Pepper + Hamburger.
  2. Use two servings of the ingredient for the type you want:
    • Normal: Tofu
    • Fire: Red Pepper
    • Water: Cucumber
    • Electric: Yellow Pepper
    • Grass: Lettuce
    • Ice: Klawf Stick
    • Fighting: Pickle
    • Poison: Green Pepper
    • Ground: Ham
    • Flying: Prosciutto
    • Psychic: Onion
    • Bug: Cherry Tomato
    • Rock: Bacon
    • Ghost: Red Onion
    • Dragon: Avocado
    • Dark: Smoked Fillet
    • Steel: Hamburger
    • Fairy: Tomato
  3. Add any two Herba Mystica (can mix and match)

This guide means that as long as you have at least two Herba Mystica, you can make the perfect shiny sandwich without any problems!

It should be noted that when making the sandwich, it is necessary for all the ingredients to stay inside the sandwich at all times. If you drop any of the ingredients or they fall out of the sandwich, the bonuses you receive will be lessened.
