How to hatch an egg in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

Eggs are a key part of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl but players need to know how to hatch them before they can see what’s inside.

Throughout the course of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, players will encounter a few different NPCs that can offer an egg. Eggs have been a part of the Pokémon franchise since the beginning but many new players are wondering if the hatching process has changed. Other players are simply curious as to how they can crack open the egg that’s in their party.

In the Sinnoh remakes, the process has not changed from previous games. However, there is one way for players to speed up the process of hatching an egg in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

Once you have an egg in your party, either from the man in Hearthome City or from Riley on Iron Island, you want to find a nice place to ride your bike up and down for continuous stretches. The best place to do this is north and south of Solaceon Town, as you can ride up and down without going into tall grass.

To hatch the egg, you need to walk a certain number of steps with the egg in your party. After you’ve walked those steps, the egg will hatch.

However, the number of steps required to hatch the egg can be plentiful. To speed up the process and half the number of steps needed, you can add a Pokémon with the Flame Body or Magma Armor ability to your party. If you have a Pokémon with these abilities, take out all other Pokémon from your party and just have that Pokémon and the egg remaining.

Now you can ride your bike in the same spot outside of Solaceon Town but it will take half the time.
