Season of Alola hopes to kick off with a bang on 1st March, with plenty of new mons from the 7th Generation of mainline games making an appearance, including the three starters -- Rowlet, Litten, and Popplio.

A Legendary Pokémon is also making its way to the mobile title developed by Niantic and that's Tapu Koko, one of the four Guardian Deities watching over the Alola region.

Guardian of Melemele Island, Tapu Koko is a Electric/Fairy type of Pokémon. Pokémon GO trainers will want to get their hands on it since it'll only be available for a very limited time once Season of Alola starts.

Here's everything you need to know about Tapu Koko's debut in Pokémon GO.

It'll be available for players to catch until 15th March.

The Melemele Guardian will be appearing on five-star raids during the timeframe mentioned above.

Raid rotations start at 10 am local time, meaning you can start battling Tapu Koko as soon as the reset happens. Just be mindful, the same applies when he leaves on 15th March.

Tapu Koko raid hours

Tapu Koko raids will be more frequent during two different periods between 1st and 15th March. Raid hours are always on Wednesdays starting at 6 pm local time.

For Tapu Koko, these are the dates:

  • 2nd March
  • 9th March

As an Electric/Fairy-type Pokémon, Tapu Koko has two major weaknesses:

  • Poison
  • Ground

Things you want to avoid using are:

  • Fighting
  • Flying
  • Bug
  • Electric
  • Dark
  • Dragon (has no effect at all)

Some of the best Poison moves in the game are:

  • Gunk Shot
  • Sludge Bomb
  • Poison Jab
  • Venoshock
  • Sludge Wave

As for Ground moves, try to pick Pokémon with the following moves:

  • Earthquake (Be ABSOLUTELY sure it won't kill any allied Pokémon that might be weak to it and don't overuse it)
  • Dig
  • Drill Run
  • Bull Doze
  • Sand Tomb

We will have a more detailed breakdown of how to best take down Tapu Koko once we get a chance to play the raid ourselves, but these basic tips should be good enough to get you started if you're at a decent level to tackle five-star raids.
