In Chapter 3 of Poppy Playtime, players repeatedly hear from a mysterious character over the phone who goes by the name of Ollie. Though we hear plenty from this character, we never actually see him, raising questions as to who Ollie really is and his importance to the lore of the franchise. Let's delve deep into the lore of Poppy Playtime, including who Ollie is, and their role in the game.
What Do We Know About Ollie In Poppy Playtime?
As we mentioned, Ollie is a character players hear over the phone in Chapter 3 of Poppy Playtime. Ollie is generally helpful to the player, giving them information about how to beat the Prototype and Catnap - so we're inclined to think that they're a good guy, giving us the details we need to progress further.
Given Poppy Playtime's lore, it seems very likely that Ollie could simply be an orphan from the Playcare who is trying to help the player defeat the Prototype, since they know what types of terrors the Prototype has enacted and would want the player to succeed in their goal of defeating it.
However, the identity of Ollie might not be as innocent as it seems at first glance. Looking a little deeper into the game's lore raises some questions about who Ollie is, and why he's chatting with the player.
Our Poppy PlayTime Ollie Theory
In Chapter 3, it's revealed that Ollie can clone the voices of those that it hears. Therefore, it could very well be the Prototype or Catnap themselves trying to trick the player into trusting them - more than likely the former, since the Prototype seems to be all-powerful. So, is Ollie from Poppy's Playtime a good guy or a bad guy? We just don't know the exact answer quite yet, as it's up in the air.
It's possible that players could get to see Ollie in Chapter 4, but this isn't yet confirmed. The identity of this mysterious character is one of the biggest mysteries in Poppy Playtime; while there are lots of theories out there about who Ollie really is and what their motives are, nothing is confirmed.
