Rocket League coach and content creator Caleb “Hoodyhooo” Garrett learned a valuable lesson in late 2021: to never bet against Twitter. On 7th September, the streamer tweeted out the infamous “rokt leeg” Octane drawing, which included a caption that read: “2k likes and I’ll get this tattoo.”
Having a large following of over 85,000 followers across his social media profiles, rocketeers from across the globe got the ball rolling (pun intended) to make permanent magic happen on Hoodyhooo's skin. This was not without the help of the Twitter algorithm, of course. After only six hours since initially posting the tweet, Hoodyhoo's goal of 2,000 likes was crushed -- it was time to pay up.
What is rokt leeg?
The drawing that Hoodyhooo has to parade until the end of time was created by Reddit user Geobald and was posted to the official Rocket League subreddit, back in 2018.
The drawing is a depiction of the game’s most popular battle car, the Octane, which was made in what appears to be Microsoft's Paint. It was posted with the caption “I Drew an Octane”, to which Redditors rejoiced and would later make viral.
At the time of writing, this historic Reddit entry has over 200 comments and almost 6,000 upvotes. The origin of the name “rokt leeg” is believed to be a credit to the post’s top comment. “I felt like this should be a t-shirt with 'Rokt Leeg' at the top,” replied the now-deleted user.
Hoodyhooo went on to get the meme inked one week after losing his bet on Twitter. He later posted the results to his Twitter account, proving he is indeed a man of honour.
Hoodyhooo later revealed that he would fill his tattoo sleeve with other things that have made him happy throughout his life and “there’s no better way than to begin with Rocket League” -- we couldn't agree more.
Now that the all-mighty moustache will be accompanied by the derpy Octane for all eternity; remember kids... Twitter is undefeated.
