Wave Dash Rocket League tournament: How to register, schedule, prize pool, more

The Rocket League Championship Series has been put on hold and fans are eager to hear any developments for its 11th season -- yet this only meant more room for a variety of offseason tournaments, opens, and more for the community and scene to thrive in.

Introducing Wave Dash, a North American car soccer event that will be held during the first half of September and will include new talent, familiar faces and high stakes up for grabs.

With Demar "Dazerin" Williams leading the charge and keeping the interested niche posted on his Twitter account, the Psyonix-sponsored event is going to be an absolute banger.

From prize pool money to how and where to register, here’s everything you need to know about Rocket League Wave Dash.

Wave Dash Rocket League tournament schedule

The Wave Dash Rocket League tournament will run from 7th September to 12th September 2021. 

Wave Dash Rocket League tournament format

The Wave Dash Rocket League tournament will go through three phases: an Open Qualifier, a Closed Qualifier and the Main Event. The formats go as follows: 

Open Qualifier

• Open registration
• 128 team cap
• Double Elimination bracket
• 8 teams advance to the Closed Qualifier

Closed Qualifier

• 8 Teams from the Open Qualifier play 8 invited teams
• Double Elimination bracket
• 8 Teams advance to the Main Event

Main Event Format:

Stage 1: Swiss

• 16 Teams (8 Invited, 8 Qualified)
• Teams must reach 3 match wins to advance
• Teams receiving 3 losses are eliminated
• All Matches are Best of 5 games

Stage 2: Knockout Gauntlet

• 2 Groups of 4 teams (8 total) 
• Seeds 1&2 in each group must win 1 match to advance, and upon first loss will play the winner of Seeds 3&4 for advancement to Stage 3.
• Two losses will eliminate the 1/2 seed.
• The winner of the Seeds 3&4 match will play the loser of Seeds 1&2 match for advancement to Stage 3.
• Any loss will eliminate Seeds 3/4.
• All Matches are Best of 7 games

Stage 3: Playoffs

• The 4 teams advanced from Stage 2 will play in a Double Elimination bracket.
• All Matches are Best of 7 games

Wave Dash Rocket League tournament prize pool

The Wave Dash Rocket League tournament will have a $20,000 prize pool. The distribution of said prize pool is yet to be made public.
