A source who correctly guessed Byleth’s inclusion has claimed Crash Bandicoot will be the next DLC fighter in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

While he’s been a character on many fans’ wishlist, a new rumour has picked up claiming Crash Bandicoot will be announced as the next fighter in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

The rumour comes from Twitter user MandyCanNot, who correctly claimed Fire Emblem: Three Houses character Byleth would be the last character in the first Fighter’s Pass back in October last year.

In a follow-up tweet shortly after the Byleth prediction, MandyCanNot stated Crash Bandicoot would be released as the next fighter.

Now Byleth has been confirmed, fans have inevitably taken his words more seriously. He’s since reaffirmed his claims earlier this week.

“The main reason I started posting to Twitter was to build a resume for myself. I only direct messaged a couple of people about it because I did not know if it was legit or not.

“I did not want to become ‘out there’ until Crash officially came to be with the other info. This is my last tweet regarding any leak until Crash is revealed for Fighter Pack 6.”

It’s always important to take any leak with a pinch of salt, but the source does have a positive track record – having predicted the Smash Direct would be happening a day before its announcement.

The inclusion of Crash Bandicoot makes enormous sense too to kick off the second Fighter’s Pass, considering he’s a highly beloved character who would certainly renew interest in the title.

Activision owns the rights to Crash Bandicoot, and as he’s already on Nintendo Switch in the N. Sane Trilogy and Crash Team Racing, it’s an even greater possibility.

Game director Masahiro Sakurai recently confirmed the second Fighter’s Pass would feature six characters in total, one more than the first.

The second pass will be available for pre-purchase when Byleth is released on 29 January.
