Sons Of The Forest is one of the most anticipated games on Steam right now. Gamers are excited to play Sons of the Forest off on how well The Forest did. Sons of the Forest will soon enter early access and with that, gamers all over the world will get to experience this latest survival horror game.

However, not everyone has played the original game known as The Forest. Players all over are noticing how anticipated Sons Of The Forest is and are wondering if they can also get into the hype without playing The Forest. After all, gameplay trailers show that Sons Of The Forest will be a fun survival game that players will not want to miss out on. Here, we will tell you if Sons of the Forest is a sequel to The Forest or not and if you need to play the original first to enjoy the sequel.

The Forest was originally released back in 2014. During that time period, The Forest was a technical marvel and it impressed gamers all over the world due to how good it was with such a small development team. Endnight has grown since then and a bigger team is creating Sons Of The Forest.

With that being said, yes, Sons Of The Forest is a direct sequel to The Forest. Sons Of The Forest takes place directly after The Forest takes place. As far as the storyline for Sons Of The Forest, not many details are currently known this time other than the fact that the main character finds themselves in a similar situation as the previous one did in The Forest.

Do I Need To Play The Forest To Enjoy Sons Of The Forest?

Nothing is ever required in gaming, but we would recommend you play The Forest before getting into Sons Of The Forest. The main reason for that is Sons Of The Forest is a direct sequel to The Forest. This means that there is a possibility that some of the stories in Sons Of The Forest will be lost to those who did not play The Forest.

There is a bit of a catch though. If you are playing in co-op mode for Sons Of The Forest, you might not need to play the original to enjoy it. This is due to the fact that most of the time, players who play co-op mode focus on the survival aspect of The Forest rather than the story. Although you might be able to complete the story for Sons Of The Forest during co-op mode, it might be still worth playing the original game.
