Since the release of the Star Wars Outlaws' Story trailer, we've been actively deciphering the video frame-by-frame to gain more insight into what to anticipate when the game launches in August 2024. While we got acquainted with the characters, locations, and story components that will tell a unique story in the galaxy far, far away, some unique features and mechanics will aid players in their epic adventures throughout the Outer Rim.

One such mechanic that was referenced in interviews with the development team is the Reputation System, which plays a pivotal role in how the multiple crime syndicates will value Kay involved in her story. We've previewed what players can expect from this new in-game mechanic and how it will influence their gameplay experience for Star Wars Outlaws.

What Is The Star Wars Outlaws Reputation System?

Developer Massive Entertainment revealed new gameplay details for their upcoming action-adventure game Star Wars Outlaws that will enhance players' in-game experiences. This includes a new in-game mechanic that will decide their fate with the underworld through their reputation.

Massive Entertainment's creative director Julian Gerighty explained the Reputation System, a key feature, in an interview with GamesRadar+ about how Kay is viewed by the various crime lords and their syndicates in their adventures. "As a scoundrel, you live and die by your reputation, meaning that Kay will have to navigate the underworld and its various crime syndicates, making choices that will impact her reputation, her experience, and her support throughout the game."

One of the more important details regarding the Reputation System is that it will significantly impact their progression in-game. It achieves this if Kay has an excellent reputation with the crime syndicates; this allows various "opportunities" to be unlocked that can be exceptionally rewarding.

However, if they have a bad standing with them, this can result in dire circumstances following her, as she'll become the hunted rather than the hunter. Members of various syndicates will constantly pursue Kay and Nix, meaning they have to contend not only with Sliro and the Zerek Besh but every other syndicate in-game.

As such, having a good reputation with all syndicates will also influence how they treat Kay in various encounters, allowing her to explore locations freely without much hindrance. Each planet and location will provide Kay with unique "opportunities" when encountering a syndicate that resides there, thus providing interesting situations in which Kay and Nix will find themselves.

Additionally, this extends to multiple discounts when purchasing at vendors throughout the cities offering unique items that won't be available elsewhere. Having a good reputation will be helpful as these syndicates can assist her in complex situations, especially when encountering Stormtroopers and the Empire itself.
