How To Get Clay In Stardew Valley

Clay is used for crafting a lot of different recipes in Stardew Valley; from constructing a Bone Mill, Brick Floor, or, most notably, a Silo, you'll need a good bit of Clay. For new players and veteran players alike, though, this resource can be pretty hard to find. There is a limited amount of it available to you in the game, and as the seasons tick by, you'll end up using up some of your Clay sources, requiring you to find new ones later on.

Whether you're new to Stardew Valley or you're a veteran player, it doesn't have to be hard to find Clay for your projects. In this guide, we'll go over how to get Clay in Stardew Valley.

There are a few different methods for getting Clay; some are easier than others, but which you'll use depends on how much of your Clay sources you've already exhausted and how far you are in your run of Stardew Valley.

Till your farm

Tilling your farm is by far the easiest and most reliable way to find Clay in Stardew Valley. You can till the ground on your farmland when you see some Clay sticking out of it, and that Clay will be added to your inventory. This is a great way to get Clay early in the game, much like how you can get tons of Hardwood from the stumps on your farm early on.

Use the mines

You can easily find stores of Clay in the mines; the first 30 levels of the mines are the most reliable place to find this resource. The best way to mine Clay reliably is to bring a Bomb to blow up all of the rocks around you, thus instantly giving you a ton of Clay. For those late-game players who have already exhausted the stores of Clay on their farm and around Stardew Valley, this is a good alternative.

Find Artifact locations

If you've ever spotted a worm sticking out of the ground in Stardew Valley and wondered what it was, you've stumbled upon an Artifact location! Artifact locations can give you many different rewards, including Clay. While this is a less reliable way to get Clay than the other methods on this list - since Artifact locations can have other drops, too - it still works in a pinch.

That's it for how to get Clay in Stardew Valley. Thankfully, there are multiple methods you can use to get more of this useful resource, so you can utilize several of them at once if you really want to optimize your output!
