To have kids in Stardew Valley, you'll first need to have married someone. It doesn't matter whether your partner is the same gender as you; you'll still be able to have kids with them. For example, a male player character can have kids with Sebastian, and a female player character can have kids with Abigail.

You'll also have to have reached at least 10 friendship hearts with that character; you'll need eight friendship hearts to marry them in the first place, so if you maintain your relationship with your partner, you should be able to keep this up. You can raise your friendship level with your spouse or hopeful partner by bringing them gifts, taking them to events like the Flower Dance, and talking to them often.

Once you get married, you'll unlock numerous upgrades for your farm. One of them is farmhouse upgrades; you'll need to upgrade your farmhouse twice, and purchase a nursery with a crib to have a child.

Before you're able to have kids with your partner, you'll need to wait seven days after your wedding. At that point, your spouse will be able to ask you if you want to have children in a conversation; any conversation with your spouse, provided you meet all the prerequisites, has a 5% chance of asking you whether you want to have children.

If you say 'Yes,' you'll have a child in fourteen days. If you say 'no,' your spouse will bring the topic up to you again at a later date. If you want to change your mind then, you can. Keep in mind, though, that you can only have up to two children.

That's your comprehensive guide on how to have kids in Stardew Valley. You'll first need to get married, and then you can upgrade your farmhouse and add kids to your family.
