Traveling to a different planet or a star system in Starfield isn't exactly straightforward. There are multiple steps to it, and understanding how it all works could be overwhelming at first.

The most important attribute for space travel in Starfield is the grav jump. If you're wondering what grav jump does and how it works, you're in the right place. Continue reading to find out everything you need to know about grav jump in Starfield.

Starfield Grav Jump Explained

Grav jump allows you to fast travel to different platforms and star systems in Starfield. When you're on your ship, notice the GRV reactor on the left-hand side of the screen. It determines whether you can make the grav jump or not. If there's no power flowing to your grav jump, you won't be able to travel to a different location and get a 'GRAV JUMP PENDING' display on the screen.

It's best to take power from your ship's missiles or shields and transfer it to grav before fast traveling. Also, if you have unspent power and zero in the GRV reactor, you will still be able to grav jump.

Grav jump can also help you escape space combat. The more power flows through the GRV reactor, the less time it takes for your ship to grav jump to a different place.

You may have noticed that grav jump requires fuel, and you can only travel to locations within your ship's fuel limit. Thankfully, you can increase your ship's fuel limit by upgrading its grav drive.

You can upgrade your ship's grav drive by talking to a Technician. You can usually find a Technician vendor next to the landing zone in every major city. Talk to them to get a wide array of shipbuilding, upgrade, and repair options.

To upgrade your grav drive, select the GRV option in the Ship System. It will increase the grav jump distance of your ship.

That's everything you need to know about grav jump in Starfield.
