Just recently, a Super Mario Bros. Wonder Direct gave us a lot of information about what was coming. In this Mario Wonder Direct, we learned about the game itself, powers, and a lot more. One of the main topics that was in the Direct was concerning multiplayer in Super Mario Bros. Wonder.

To put it simply, yes, there is online multiplayer for Super Mario Bros. Wonder. However, it's going to be a bit different than you might expect. Although you can play together in local multiplayer in the same way you would play alone, you cannot do so in online multiplayer. Online multiplayer is very different compared to local multiplayer.

How Does Online Multiplayer Work In Super Mario Wonder

Online multiplayer works as if you are playing side by side with other players. If you have an online connection, you will be able to see ghosts of them playing the game live right beside you. There are some interactions you can have with them, however. If you die, they can save you. You can also give and recieve items to other players as well.

You can play online with friends but it works the same way. You can have up to 12 players in a single room and four players in a single course. You can even race some of your friends to see who can beat a course first. But you cannot play together like you can with local multiplayer. So if you want to play Mario Wonder together like you have played the New Super Mario Bros. series, you need to do that locally.
