Best DMR Builds In Escape from Tarkov

Escape from Tarkov's Best DMR builds to guide you through those stormy battles!
Best DMR Builds In Escape from Tarkov
Battlestate Games

Escape from Tarkov players often find themselves unintentionally struggling when they enter a raid equipped with their modified Assault rifle mocking a DMR, only to misjudge the recoil and die to a scavenger. Escape from Tarkov is a difficult game, bestowing players with great obstacles to overcome, such as weapon modifications. Most Escape from Tarkov players don't recognize all features and statistics when building their ideal gun - putting a variable zoom scope on an Assault rifle doesn't make it a sniper rifle, it's still an assault rifle with a scope. Therefore, how can we optimize the weapon to complete the tasks we throw at it - weapon modification and planning.

This guide will showcase the importance of building an optimized and overpowered DMR. Personally, DMRs are my favorite weapons, they allow operation within all types of environments and requirements, whether that's hitting targets from three-hundred meters, or three meters, DMRs provide professionalism and the deliverance of death. However, to possess the power of a DMR, you must possess the power of knowledge within Escape from Tarkov, the Flea Market, and how to make money, because this isn't going to be cheap!

This guide will be beneficial to those who obtain the following:

  • Level fifteen of above - access to Flea market
  • Obtain Workbench level one in the hideout - access to the weapon modification screen
  • 250K Roubes (spare) - to pay for at least one of the DMR builds below

Where these requirements aren't necessary, it will make your life incredibly easier. Players who don't obtain the flea market will have to find these attachments in-raid; the workbench will have less visual aid when building the weapon, and these builds will cost around 250k roubles per.

Springfield_Armory_M1A_7.62x51

Escape from Tarkov Best DMR Weapons - M1A

The Springfield M1A is widely used by the majority of FPS players and is vastly loved amongst the Escape from Tarkov community. The M1A seriously packs a punch, being 7.62x51, the rifle can take pretty much anything out with little effort, causing this rifle to be level six armor players' worst nightmare.

The addition of the scope really seals the deal, allowing players to engage in all ranges of combat, giving the ability to operate throughout all regions of Escape from Tarkov, whether that be Factory, Reserve, Lighthouse, or Customs. The compensator allows for the weapon to be rated 96 verticle recoil, therefore, players are able to successfully control the rifle if they need to empty their magazine into a closer player.

Here are the following attachments:

Attachment Type Attachment
Stock & Chassis M14 SAGE International M14ALCS chassis
Stock M14 SAGE International M14ALCS (MOD-0) Stock
Flashlight Zenit  Klesch-2U Tactical Flashlight
Pistol Grip M14 SAGE International M14ALCS (MOD-0) Pistol Grip
Flash hider  M1A Smith Enterprise SOCOM 16 7.62x51 Threaded Mount
Muzzle Device AR-10 Luntac Drakon 7.62x51 brake-compensator
Scope Leupold Mark 4 HAMR 2x24 DeltaPoint
Scope (2) Leupold DeltaPoint Reflex Sight

Overall the rifle sits around 200k roubles, pushing players quite far back when having to cough up the money. However, players will experience great amounts of wealth when killing players around every map on Escape from Tarkov, this weapon is excellent for every map and is my personal favorite build and rifle after several years of playing the title.

SR-25_7.62x51_marksman_rifle

Escape from Tarkov Best DMR Weapons - SR-25

Considered the poor man RSASS, the SR-25 provides quite the experience on the battlefield taking out scav bosses, level fifty and above players, and friends by accident without issue. The weapon is typically found within weapon crates and raiders and rouges within Labs and Lighthouse, making it relatively easy to find, considering you can kill these targets.

This weapon similar to the M1A can operate at all ranges, whether it be taking out enemies from afar or point-blank, the SR-25 can complete the assignment. Unfortunately, the SR-25 isn't readily available from a low level, have to wait for Peacekeeper loyalty level three before you can obtain it, the rifle isn't available on the Flea market either, unfortunately.

Here are the following attachments:

Attachment Type Attachment
Scope ELCAN SpecterDR 1x/4x Scope
Canted Sight Belomo PK-06
Foregrip Magpul M-LOK AFG Tactical Grip
Stock MFT BUS Stock
Compensator AR-10 Luntak Drakon 7.62x51 Muzzle Break Compensator

Unlike other builds, the SR-25 is mostly acceptable as its stock build, but we've of course thrown a couple more attachments on the rifle. Most players heavily overcompensate with attachments, ruining the rifle and therefore making their lives a lot more difficult financially and combat-wise. The rifle is great in most scenarios, except for facing Killa with an RPK-16 point blank!

SVDS

Escape from Tarkov Best DMR Weapons - SVDS

The SVDS is technically a sniper rifle, but most players operate the rifle in DMR combat additionally, with Battlestate Games classing the rifle as a marksman rifle. The SVDS is probably the most widely used weapon within this list due to its diversity, you can literally optimize the weapon to do anything within reason, even just whacking a holographic on the SVDS works.

Personally, I've found the SVDS is more acceptable being utilized specifically for DMR tasks, such as taking out enemies on Customs or Sniping survivors on Woods, however, players can utilize the following build in ways they desire. The weapon uses 7.62x54R bullets, the same as Mosin rounds, ensuring the majority of your targets will perish in very few shots.

Attachment Type Attachment
Scope SIG Sauer BRAVO5 4x30 Scope
Canted Scope Belomo PK-06
Foregrip Zenit RK-2 tactical foregrip
Rail  Vltor CASV KeyMod 6 Inch Rail
Compensator Rotor 43 7.62x54R muzzle brake-compensator
Thread adapter  SVDS Rotor 43 thread adapter
Dust Cover  SVDS custom-cut dust cover
Chassis SVD SAG MK1 chassis

The choice of using the canted scope over attaching it to the SIG Sauer BRAVO5 was conscious, it's because the weapon provided higher ergonomics with the canted scope placed on the side rather than on top of the weapon. The verticle recoil has been significantly decreased due to the use of the RK-2 foregrip and although it's expensive, it's best not to change it, otherwise you'll experience much more recoil.

Best DMRs Ranked Best to Worst

From this list, here is my personal ranking of the weapons, although they are all incredible pieces of weaponry, these are the weapons ranked best (1) to worst (3).

  1. M1A
  2. SVDS
  3. SR-25

For the best results within your gameplay follow the builds to their exact attachment and you shall transcend to another dimension, reigning terror over your enemies. As previously mentioned, these weapons are all excellent, the list is personal preference but these are by far the best three DMR builds in Escape from Tarkov.
