G2 Esports has signed Oscar “Mixwell” Cañellas Colocho as their first Valorant player.

Mixwell, a former CS:GO player from Spain, will be the captain of G2’s first Valorant squad - with more roster announcements likely to arrive soon.

Despite the game only being officially released earlier this month, Mixwell has already racked up some notable achievements in the scene - having won the Twitch Rivals: Valorant Launch Showdown in Europe.

The player also has history with the G2 organisation, having joined as a temporary player on their CS:GO roster back in 2018.

Speaking about the signing, Mixwell said: “G2’s history shows that they are competitive in every game they’ve been part of and their content is also top, most of my fans are also G2 fans so it makes even more sense for me.

“The goal is to be the best Valorant team in the world and I want to be the best player in the game, have fun representing the fans around the world, and I am sure we can do it together.”

G2 CEO, Carlos “ocelote” Rodriguez, said: “Valorant is an amazing game I enjoy both playing and watching. G2 will have a World Championship winning team and it all starts with Mixwell.

“Many top organisations fought hard for him and we are delighted he’s put so much trust into letting us build a killer lineup alongside him. Now you mfers stop poaching him already.”

G2 also announced a partnership with Red Bull for their Valorant roster.

The signing comes ahead of the G2 Esports Valorant Invitational which kicks off on Friday 19th June.
