Following the release of KAY/O back in mid-June, Valorant fans have been eagerly anticipating what the next Agent could look and play like.
Slowly but surely, Riot Games is revealing more information about the FPS' next character, giving some official confirmation as to what role they'll end up filling.
In their latest 'State of the Agents' update, on top of promising possible nerfs to troublesome Agents like Skye if they continued to dominate the meta, the devs confirmed the upcoming 17th Agent will be a Sentinel.
So far, we only have three Sentinel Agents, Cypher, Killjoy, and Sage, all boasting defensive utilities that deny space and create zone control for teams, particularly powerful when defending sites.
"We took a step back and thought about different ways to provide another Sentinel to the roster. A Sentinel that focuses on mechanical outplays, with an additional focus of gunplay into the mix for an extra flourish," John Goscicki, character producer, explained.
It'll be interesting to see what the character ends up looking like, as the same approach was taken with KAY/O, giving birth to his toolkit, which disables opponent abilities, making them rely solely on their aiming.
A big tease regarding the Agent's nationality comes with Riot describing their eventual arrival as something "magnifique," quite possibly indicating they'll hail from France.
Riot has tied up Agent nationalities with Night Markets before, so fans are now speculating that, if there's an upcoming one, it could possibly confirm suspicions regarding Agent 17's place of birth.
Whatever ends up happening, we'll be sure to keep you updated.
