Valorant's latest upgradable skin line brings a very different look to the game more akin to a trip to Verdansk than Split.

Are you running an ACOG or a tac laser? Both? That's the options you will get with Valorant's new Recon bundle -- but don't worry purists, it's all just for show.

The game's newest skin bundle brings a style that wouldn't look out of place in Call of Duty: Warzone, all hi-tech military offerings boasting attachments with the Ghost, Spectre, Guardian and Phantom all being kitted out.

There is also the 'Balisong' Butterfly knife which players can twirl in their hands before sinking it into someones back -- all-in-all this is likely to prove a popular skin bundle.

"While the idea of attachments for gameplay purposes didn’t make its way through to the final game, there has always been a select few on the team who really loved the look of grounded military weapons that were kitted out with various attachments," explained Art Lead, Sean Marino.

"Recon is our attempt to capture that fantasy of being in a more traditional modern shooter, having a gun that feels more representative of something you might see in modern combat."

On the knife, Marino reveals that making the butterfly knife something special for players with a series of tricks included, was key.

"We spent a lot of time looking at videos of butterfly knife tricks, seeing how other games have implemented them and really just dug deep into delivering on an awesome experience."

"Once we had all of the animations in place it was just really fun for everyone to walk around in-game spamming their equips, inspects and attacks to just watch the knife spin and flip in the character’s hands."

When does the Recon skin bundle come out?

The Recon bundle came out alongside the 3.04 patch.

What comes in the bundle?

The bundle contains five weapon skins, they are for:

    • Phantom
    • Ghost
    • Spectre
    • Guardian
    • Balisong (Butterfly Knife Melee)

Each skin, including the Melee, contains three variant colours; red, blue, and green camouflage.

The guns have also boast four levels some of which 'add' extra features (cosmetic only) to the gun.

  • Level 1 - Custom model and ADS reticle
  • Level 2 - Randomized Side Attachments 
  • Level 3 - Randomized Bottom Attachments
  • Level 4 - Kill Banner

The Knife / Melee also has two levels with level 1 offering a custom model and level 2 offering custom audio and animations.

There is no Gun Buddy, Spray and Player Card included in the Recon bundle.

 

What's the price of the Recon Bundle?

These skins are billed as Premium Edition (PE) and as a bundle are priced at 7,100 VP.

Each individual skin is priced at 1775 VP except the Melee which is 3,550 VP.
