While Vampire Survivors didn't win the "Best Debut Indie Game" category at The Game Awards 2022, the developer, Poncle, decided to celebrate anyway with a surprise announcement. Yes, Vampire Survivors is now available completely free on mobile devices, and you can play it right now.

Vampire Survivors, for those who don't know, is a roguelite bullet-hell game where players take on hordes of monsters with the aim of hunting down the evil Bisconte Draculó. It became one of the most popular games of 2022 and moved out of Early Access recently.

Let's get straight to the point here, this is the full Vampire Survivors experience, and there are no paywalls. The announcement also states explicitly that it is "100% free, for real". 

To get Vampire Survivors for free on Android or iOS devices, simply head to one of the links below to get started or search "Vampire Survivors" on your mobile device's app store.

There is one small catch the developer Poncle didn't mention in The Game Awards 2022 announcement. Vampire Survivors on mobile does have some ads. These are, however, optional ads that you can watch for some free rewards.

The mobile download size of Vampire Survivors is roughly the same as it is on a console or PC, weighing in at just under 500 MB. Remember to connect your phone or tablet to Wi-Fi if you have a limited data plan.

At the time of writing, the free rewards for watching optional ads in Vampire Survivors on Android or iOS devices are some Gold and sometimes a free Revive. These rewards can be very useful, so we do suggest watching some ads from time to time; it's not that bad.

For those who have never played Vampire Survivors before, we've got some very quick tips to share if you are jumping in on your mobile device right now:

  • Take your time to grab gems and items; they won't disappear.
  • Get two or three offensive weapons at first, but focus on leveling them up one at a time.
  • Armor and Luck are good starting power-ups to spend money on.
  • Refund power-ups often; it's free, and try new upgrade paths.
