What’s your most controversial gaming opinion? GINX readers drop their unpopular hot takes

We asked the GINX community about the controversial hot takes they’ve been holding close to their chest, and we didn’t quite expect the avalanche of outrageous opinions.
What’s your most controversial gaming opinion? GINX readers drop their unpopular hot takes

The timing of an unpopular hot take can be a dangerous game. Wanted to scorn The Last Of Us back when it released? Immediate ejection. Tried to insult Pokemon at the inception of its insane popularity? Now you’re just being silly.

The ever-evolving power of hindsight however allows unpopular hot takes to gain power and sustenance - with absurd thoughts morphing into something, dare we say, worth listening to?

So when we asked the GINX community about their unpopular gaming opinions, there were some which carried weight - like questioning whether 2D Sonic was ever worth our nostalgia in the first place, or why DmC: Devil May Cry isn’t considered among the best in the series.

There were, of course, some arrest-worthy discrepancies. 3D Mario games overrated? Pokemon is garbage? There’s a glitch in the system sir, the people are wrong.

There was also some love for overlooked titles, with WA VE on Facebook, writing: “Assassin’s Creed Unity is the best in the series.”

Misel Banko also claimed Crysis is the best video game series ever, while Ade Chandra Hasibuan wanted to dampen the hype around the Final Fantasy series, stating it’s overrated.

Adam Thomas was hot on his heels with Final Fantasy takes, writing: “Final Fantasy VIII was incredible, and Final Fantasy IX was confusing and ultimately unsatisfying.”
