Dead Island 2 - Release Date, Platforms, Gameplay, PC Specs

The third iteration of the popular first-person ARPG Dead Island game franchise developed by Dambuster Studios is currently in the works, with Dead Island 2 slated for a February 2023 release. The famed horror game is set in the months after the original Dead Island game and sees California placed under full quarantine following a brand-new, stronger zombie virus outbreak.

Fans can look forward to reliving the same post-apocalyptic experience of previous titles but with several new exciting features, including a new "rage" and crafting system. Here's everything you need to know about Dead Island 2, including when it releases, all supported platforms, gameplay features, and the minimum and recommended PC system requirements.

Dead Island 2 - Release Date And Platforms

According to an accidental early Amazon listing, Dead Island 2 will release on 3rd February 2023 for PlayStation 4|5, Xbox One Xbox Series X|S, and Microsoft Windows PC platforms.

Dead Island 2 will retail for $69.99 and is expected to sell exclusively via the Epic Games Store. The game is currently available for pre-order. Dead Island 2: Day One Edition will also ship with several founder's bonuses, including the Memories of Banoi baseball bat, weapon perk, and skill card.

The game was initially announced in 2014 and will (hopefully) release after nearly a decade of development amid multiple development shuffles. However, per a recent Tweet by notable leaker Tom Henderson, "an Amazon leak could indicate a Gamescom reveal rather than a Game Awards reveal," so fans could look forward to gameplay footage sooner rather than later.

Dead Island 2 is a first-person APRG that will have players play from one of six unique in-game characters (called "Slayers"), each of which can be customized fully to players' liking. The game will also include a new skill and crafting system.

The official game description reads: "A deadly virus is spreading across Los Angeles, California, turning its inhabitants into ravenous zombies. The city is in quarantine, and the military have retreated."

"Bitten, infected, but more than just immune, you learn to harness the zombie inside. Only you, and the handful of other swaggering fellows who happen to be resistant to the pathogen, hold the future of LA (and humanity) in the balance."

Players will be tasked with uncovering the truth behind the outbreak while attempting to discover who (and what) they are. "Survive, evolve, save the world – just another day in LA!" Horror game fans will enjoy Dead Island 2's unique formula of horror, dark humor, and over-the-top zombie-slaying, spanning an epic pulp adventure.
