A new psychological horror game, Dead Letter Dept, promises to bring a new "type" of horror to PC gamers, introducing an innovative typing element. Developer Mike Monroe of the 2-man studio Belief Engine announced yesterday that the game is set to release on 30 January 2025.

Players will use their keyboard to type in various prompts in this highly interactive title; no two play-throughs are exactly the same, and players will be able to unlock several different endings based on how they play the game.

Developers say it's got "rich sound designed to crawl under your skin," with an atmospheric horror mood.

The game's Steam description introduces the title: "Working at a data entry job in the big city, you type up and transcribe the lost mail and letters that have nowhere else to go. But as the days carry on oddities in the mail start to emerge, and cracks begin to appear."

Dead Letter Dept is available to wishlist now on Steam, with a free demo also available now.
