Elijah Wood surprises Animal Crossing: New Horizons fans while looking for turnip prices

Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been a smash hit for Nintendo with many gamers finding a welcome escape from the world of quarantine in the colourful life simulator.

One of the main features of the game, and the best way to generate income in it, are turnips, which are only sold every Sunday morning up until noon in whatever timezone you are playing. 

Each day but Sunday, Nook's Cranny will offer two different prices per turnip, which differ from island to island. This has incentivized thousands of players to share their rates online, prompting world-renowned actor, Elijah Wood, to jump at the opportunity to cash in on those hard-earned veggies.

It was just another Thursday for Twitter user Jessa when she tweeted out that her island was currently buying turnips for 599 bells, an exorbitant amount rarely seen in Animal Crossing.

Naturally, this was followed immediately by hundreds of people trying to offload their turnips at a bumper price, however, Jessa could never expect that a certain Lord of the Rings actor would want in as well.

Jessa shared the direct message Elijah sent to her, as well as his character arriving at the island, a moment that went viral on social media.

The 39-year-old actor showed incredible politeness going as far as asking if he was allowed to pick fruit from Jessa's island, in something the rest of Animal Crossing players are hopeful becomes standard etiquette.
