The gaming news season has begun, with Sony recently hosting the latest and arguably the best State of Play event ever. Next on the list is Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest on 9th June and Xbox Games Showcase on 12th June.

While the expectations remain sky-high from the Xbox Games Showcase, which also includes a heavy presence from Bethesda, the company has now announced a second extended Xbox Games Showcase for 14th June 2022.

What to expect from extended Xbox Games Showcase 2022

The extended Xbox Games Showcase 2022 will be a 90 minutes event featuring new trailers, discussions on the reveals, updates, dev interviews, and more.

It isn't the first time Xbox is holding an extended show three days after its original Showcase. Last year's extended Xbox Games Showcase was almost two hours long and featured extended gameplay trailers of the games revealed during the event.

First-party games like Forza Horizon 5, Psychonauts 2, and Halo Infinite had a major presence with their devs dissecting several elements of these games alongside answering burning fan questions about them. Third-party games like Scarlett Nexus, which was added to Xbox Game Pass later last year, had also graced the extended Xbox Games Showcase stage.

Fans could expect something similar at this year's extended Xbox show. However, the biggest difference between last year's showcase and this year's is how little we know about the Xbox exclusive games that are releasing this year.

Both Redfall and Starfield were recently delayed to 2023, leaving a massive void in Xbox's 2022 first-party lineup. At the time of this writing, we don't know about any other big Xbox exclusives (other than Forza Motorsport 8) that are releasing this year.

A rising rumour suggests that Obsidian Entertainment's Avowed will release this holiday season. If that turns out to be the case, fans can expect an extensive gameplay demonstration of the same at the extended Xbox Games Showcase 2022.

Redfall may also have a heavy presence there as well as Starfield, and if so, expect interviews featuring Harvey Smith from Arkane Studios and Todd Howard from Bethesda Games Showcase.

All in all, the extended Xbox Games Showcase has the potential to elevate the hype surrounding Xbox and Bethesda's future. Given the insane number of first-party games coming in 2023 and beyond, it shouldn't be hard.
