Ahead of a potential release date reveal tonight at The Game Awards, the Final Fantasy XVI release date has leaked along with the contents of both the standard edition for the game and the deluxe edition of the game.
According to InsiderGaming, the game is currently penciled in to release on June 22nd, 2023, which lines up with the previously mentioned Summer release window. It also lends credibility to the idea that we will be getting a release date trailer later tonight at The Game Awards 2022, especially since we already know the game will be there at the show thanks to an official announcement.
As for what you get in each edition, we know of the following for the standard edition:
- Weapon- Braveheart
- Accessory- Ketsy's Lucky Charm
- Accessory- Scholars Glasses
For the digital deluxe edition there's slightly more on offer with the following:
- Everything From The Standard Edition
- Digital Mini Artbook
- Digital Mini Soundtrack
It's unclear as of right now if there's a planned release for a physical collectors edition akin to Final Fantasy VII Remake, which came with a statue of Cloud riding his motorcycle. A potential collector's edition of Final Fantasy XVI could be of the main character or even of one of the titans featured in the game. It's also possible that Square Enix doesn't want to release two different Final Fantasy collector's editions in the same year and is saving the collector's edition treatment for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which is due out next winter.
UPDATE: Final Fantasy XVI is officially launching on June 22nd, 2023, and has received a brand new trailer at The Game Awards 2022.
