Is Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth On PS4?

One of the burning questions among most Final Fantasy fans is whether Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is coming on PS4 or not. Serving as the sequel to Final Fantasy Remake and the second game in the three-part saga, Rebirth is all set to launch in the winter of 2023.

Is Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth On PS4?

Unfortunately, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth won't be getting released on PS4 as Square Enix has confirmed that the sequel will be a PS5 exclusive.

Delving more into why Final Fantasy 7 won't be on PS4, series producer Yoshinori Kitase while talking with the Japanese publication Gamer (translated by Gematsu) said, "it's exclusive to PlayStation 5 because of the graphical quality, of course, as well as SSD access speed."

Therefore, anyone who wants to experience the sequel will need to own a PS5 as the devs have no plans of launching the game on the previous generation console.

Yoshinori also added, "since the adventure unfolds in a vast world after the escape from Midgar, loading stress is an extreme bottleneck. We felt we needed the specifications of PlayStation 5 to overcome that and travel the world comfortably." 

Thanks to the super-fast SSD on the PS5, loading screens have almost been erased, allowing for a more seamless experience. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth could surely use the additional horsepower of the PS5 along with all the technical enhancements.

That said, it's really unfortunate that PS4 players won't be able to play the game when it releases. However, if all goes well, PS5 might become a lot more common by the time Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth launches. That's everything about whether Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will be out on PS4 or not.
