Kratos’ iconic Blades of Chaos return in God of War, and here’s how to get it.
How to get Blades of Chaos in God of War

2018's God of War was a step-up for this iconic franchise in many ways. It ditched the dark interiors of the Greek realm for the bright exteriors of the Norse realm and added the much-needed colour to this ageing franchise.

With a newfound focus on narrative and methodical combat system, 2018's God of War reinvigorated the franchise in many ways, making its much-awaited return a breakout hit.

While God of War ditched plenty of story and gameplay elements of the past games, making this an ideal entry point for newcomers, it didn't ditch one important aspect of the original - Kratos' Blades of Chaos.

The iconic twin blades return in 2018's God of War, and with its PC port now finally here, many might be curious to know how they can get it. Here’s our guide on finding the Blade of Chaos in God of War.

Light spoilers ahead

2018's God of War boasts a semi-open world Metroidvania design, and, as such, players will have to backtrack a lot to explore and complete every nook and cranny of the game. However, for obtaining Blades of Chaos, players simply have to play through the main missions.

Halfway through the story, players will come across a mission called, The Sickness,  in which Kratos have to traverse an area where his Leviathan Axe isn't effective. To progress, Kratos needs a different weapon, and thankfully, as players would notice, his trusty old Blades of Chaos more than makes up for it.

The Sickness is perhaps the most nostalgia-driven story mission in 2018's God of War, with several references to the original trilogy. Once Kratos has acquired Blades of Chaos after traversing all the way back to the hut, players will have access to both his weapons on the fly.

Like Leviathan Axe, Blades of Chaos has its own skill tree. Players can also equip runic attacks and pommels to enhance the combat experience.

That's it for our Blades of Chaos guide. In New game plus, players will carry over both weapons and their upgrades, meaning they will have access to Blade of Chaos from the beginning.
