More recently, a Twitter user brought a job listing for a Narrative Director on the Infinity Ward website to the attention of major leakers and news sources, suggesting that a new, unreleased AAA open-world RPG might be in development.
Infinity Ward is recruiting for an unreleased open-world RPG
In the Tweet, posted on 12th June 2022, the Twitter user highlighted various components of the official Infinity Ward job listing. In particular, they drew attention to specific responsibilities of the position, which included setting "the overall vision and direction for an unannounced AAA project."
Additionally, the listing said the role would "provide the best narrative and cinematic experience in an open world RPG" and involve the "creation of the game story, characters, lore, and world building."
Finally, the ideal candidate for the Narrative Director position would "cooperate with writers, quest designers, and [the] gameplay team to create [a] cohesive narrative experience."
The user added that the AAA Open World RPG title under development by the Modern Warfare developers could (potentially) be a new COD Ghosts title. Of course, going by the job description and the responsibilities mentioned, it certainly seems possible.
Together, this evidence points to the fact that Infinity Ward might be working on a new game, albeit still in its super early stages. In particular, the company and Activision might be working on a campaign-driven, open-world game with RPG elements and a significant focus on lore and world-building.
Nothing else is known about this "unannounced AAA project," and chances are we might only get to hear more about it following the release of Modern Warfare 2 later this year.
That's everything about the newly found Infinity Ward job listing. We will endeavor to keep you updated once more details become available.
