Is Hogwarts Legacy a PlayStation exclusive?

Following Sony's reveal of a State of Play dedicated to the Harry Potter RPG, fans are wondering if Xbox users will miss out on it.
Is Hogwarts Legacy a PlayStation exclusive?
It's been almost two years since long-standing rumours of a new RPG set in the world of Harry Potter were confirmed with the unveiled of Hogwarts Legacy.

First announced during Sony's PlayStation 5 reveal stream, Hogwarts Legacy seemed to be inevitably bound to become an exclusive title only available for PS4 and PS5.

Now, with the news that Hogwarts Legacy will be the main star of a Sony State of Play scheduled for 17th March, fans are once again wondering what they've been doing since 2020 -- will the game be a PlayStation exclusive?

Will Hogwarts Legacy be on Xbox?

While games featured during a State of Play stream are often exclusive to Sony systems, whether PS4 or PS5, it's common to see multiplatform titles show up as well.

Similar to multiplatform titles featured on a Nintendo Direct, these announcements serve to entice players to choose their consoles when it comes to non-exclusive games.

Having said all of that, Hogwarts Legacy is currently scheduled for release on the following platforms:

  • PC
  • PlayStation 4
  • PlayStation 5
  • Xbox One
  • Xbox Series S/X

Now we're getting greedy, but sadly, there is no information regarding Hogwarts Legacy hitting the subscription service on release.

Since the concept of console wars is slowly fading away, companies are trying to bring in users by making games more accessible, so it's possible that Hogwarts Legacy could show up on Game Pass as soon as it launches.

A recent example is none other than Sony Santa Monica's MLB The Show 2022. The multiplatform baseball game hit shelves and digital stores on 16th February for PlayStation and Xbox consoles, as well as Nintendo Switch.

That same day, Game Pass users had the ability to download it as part of their subscription.

In any case, expect the State of Play to last about 20 minutes, with more than half dedicated to Hogwarts Legacy's gameplay and more information set to be revealed during the stream.

As for us, all we can hope is that it's a game worth trying out and that for the love of Dumbledore, let it have crossplay with all platforms.
