Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: Release date, gameplay details, story and more

Following the release of Marvel's Avengers last year, Square Enix announced Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy during their E3 2021 press conference. The good news for fans of the ragtag band of misfits is that you won't even have to wait too long to play the game. The bad news...Star-Lord isn't portrayed by Chris Pratt. In any case, here's what you need to know about Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy from developer Eidos-Montréal, including the release date, platforms, gameplay and the first trailer.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy - Release date & platforms

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy will release on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. 

The game is scheduled to release on 26 October 2021, and players can already pre-order it on all platforms by heading to this handy link from Square Enix.

Gameplay & story details for Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is a third-person, action-adventure title where you will take on the role of Star-Lord himself.

Players will lead their band of heroes, which includes:

• Gamora
• Drax
• Rocket
• Groot

As Star-Lord, players will be able to use his Element Blasters, his jetpack boots and much more, combining attacks with the other Guardians of the Galaxy with devastating effects.

The fate of the galaxy will be in your hands, as players will encounter new threats in a brand-new, original story.

Square Enix also notes that: "the consequences of your actions guaranteed to keep the Guardians on their toes" which makes it sound a lot like the player's choices will have an impact on the story.
