May The 4th Be With You: Top 5 Star Wars games you should start playing today

Did you know that there're over one hundred video games based on Star Wars?

It looks like a big number, but Star Wars is by far one of the most popular franchises in the world, and it is more than four decades old. It's only logical that there are so many games to play.

From the first games on Atari 2600 to modern consoles and smartphones, Star Wars games were always exciting and fun, and we've rarely seen some bad games.

But which game should you play today? Here are 5 Star Wars games we think everyone should play, even if you aren't Star Wars fan.

5. LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens

If you ever had a chance to play any of the Lego games, you know how much fun they can pack. There's something truly magical in watching those little lego figures coming to life and making cute facial expressions while communicating and doing stuff.

The game follows the story of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie, but it adds its own little moments here and there, especially with a tone of humorous situations that give everything a lighthearted tone.

You can play with more than 200 playable characters, including Rey, Finn, Captain Phasma, Poe Dameron, Han Solo, Kylo Ren, and of course, the droids:  C-3PO and BB-8.

You can play solo or in co-op (both local and online) and what's truly great is that the game is equally fun to play for grownups and kids alike, so it is a perfect thing to play with your kids, and younger siblings.

Do you want to make a bond with your nephew? Play LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens!

Fans of the Star Wars lore will especially appreciate the addition of a prologue that shows the Battle of Endor, the fall of Emperor Palpatine, and the blasting of the Death Star II.

4. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

You can't really make a Star Wars list without KotoR on it. Knights of the Old Republic is still considered one of the best Star Wars games in the history and one of the most beloved RPGs even amongst gamers who are not Star Wars fans. At the time, it was even considered one of the best video games ever made.

The story takes place approximately 4,000 years before the rise of the Galactic Empire (events of the movies), and it is centred around Darth Malak, a former Jedi, now a Dark Lord of the Sith. He is wreaking havoc around the Republic, with Jedi destroyed or some even joining forces with him.

The game has fantastic characters you'll never forget, outstanding sound design, and intriguing plot, amongst many other great things. The gameplay is compelling, and the sheer exploring of the planets and locations is addictively exciting and makes you never want to finish the session you've started.

3. Star Wars Battlefront II

You are probably asking yourself now, "Whaaat, this game?"

Yes, the game had a really rough start with one of the worst pay2win elements in the history of gaming, but with the dedicated and passioned team of developers, through years it became one of the best possible Star Wars games ever.

The story of Star Wars Battlefront 2 is a strange one. It started with the huge marketing fiasco at the beginning, when people in beta realised how much of a pay to win is everything in the game. Then the loot box controversy which sparked the mainstream interest for this problem, and of course, how can we forget the infamous "a sense of pride and accomplishment" Reddit post, which became the most downvoted post in the history of the platform.

But eventually, it became one of the best Star Wars shooters out there, which is something even the hardcore haters of the game and Electronic Arts will confirm as true.

For more than two years, the DICE team has delivered 25 free content updates with countless new maps, planets, heroes, play modes, classes, characters skins, vehicles, singleplayer content... We can say with great certainty that Star Wars Battlefront II is one of the most complete Star Wars experience you can have. Game is covering content form all Star Wars eras and all Star Wars movies. Whatever you want, and whichever period you like - it is there.

What we're especially fascinated about is that the game has 12 multiplayer modes to play - you can never get bored!

2. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords

As we've said above - You can't really make a Star Wars list without KotOR on it, and that goes for KotOR 2 as well. The first KotOR was made by BioWare, while the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II came from Obsidian, and it was an equally great game. Knights of the Old Republic II starts five years after the events of the first game and follows the story of The Exile, a Jedi Knight who was exiled from the Jedi Order.

In terms of gameplay mechanic and graphics, the game was pretty much identical to its predecessor, but what really separates this game from any other Star Wars works, is its dark and ambiguous story with some of the best-written characters in the history of Star Wars. It is one of the only, if not the only Star Wars creation, where you will be exploring the theme of the "wrong" Light side and "good" of the Dark Side.

And then there's, of course, Kreia, still one of the best Chris Avellone creations by date, and one of the most captivating characters in the video games.

1. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

And finally, we have the latest Star Wars game. Coming from Respawn Entertainment, Jedi: Fallen Order is one of the best AAA singleplayer experiences from the last year and a "saviour" for the Electronic Arts' Star Wars deal.

Simply put, this game is a fantastic singleplayer action-adventure which offers a lot of fun and exciting action, with beautifully crafted locations and engaging gameplay.

The gameplay is inspired by Batman: Arkham Asylum series and it contains some Metroidvania elements, which means you will often come back to previously visited locations in order to unlock some new areas with new content and missions there.

We play as a former Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis, who is now hiding on the planet Bracca, where he works as a scrapper salvaging ships from the Clone Wars.

But that comes to an end when he exposed himself by using the force to save his friend. From there on, the adventure full of danger and excitement awaits!

There are rumours that the sequel is being developed, so hurry up and play the first part! You will have the best time, we guarantee you!
