Next Nintendo Direct Confirmed For 8th February 2023

How long will fans have to wait for the next Nintendo Direct Presentation in 2023?
Next Nintendo Direct Confirmed For 8th February 2023

When is the next Nintendo Direct? That's the key question that is normally on the minds of all Nintendo Switch owners from one month to the next. And quite frankly, why not? It's when Nintendo normally rolls out the red carpet for surprise new announcements and also key updates on their release schedule, new amiibo, and plenty more Nintendo-related news.

The only bad news is that Nintendo rarely commits to any sort of schedule for these live shows. Predicting when they could happen is often a fool's errand, and whilst some more 'in-the-know' reporters might have a stab at guessing, it's all speculative.

For now, read on for the latest news, rumors, and leaks related to the next Nintendo Direct, whenever it might arrive...

Nintendo Direct Confirmed For February 8, 2023

Nintendo has confirmed that they'll be hosting a Nintendo Direct broadcast on February 8 at 2:00 p.m. PT / 5:00 p.m. ET.

The show is said to feature "roughly 40 minutes" of information focused predominantly on Switch games launching in the first half of 2023.

Who knows though, maybe we'll get a few teasers for any games a little further afield too.

How Often Is There A Nintendo Direct?

There's no hard rule on how many Nintendo Direct presentations the company will host each year.

Broadly speaking the company will host three longer Nintendo Direct Presentations across the year. Although, with E3 returning in 2023, that could change still.

In between these larger Nintendo Directs we also tend to see a handful of smaller presentations, which either focus on specific titles or indies.

There's also the occasional 'Pokemon Presents' style Nintendo Direct, which as you've guessed, will focus on the Pokemon Games on Nintendo platforms.

In 2022, fans of Nintendo got 8 presentations throughout the year, down from 12 in 2021 and 19 in 2020. Of course, this could simply be a result of the Nintendo Switch coming towards the end of its lifecycle, and we might see an increase when the inevitable 'Nintendo Switch Pro' releases in the future.

When was the last Nintendo Direct?

The last 'normal' Nintendo Direct took place on September 13th, 2022. However, this was also followed up with a more general 'Indie World Showcase' which sort of counts as a Nintendo Direct, we guess. That aired on November 10th, 2022.

But other than that, it's been more or less radio silence from Nintendo, and as we look forward to 2023, there are hopefully plenty of announcements and surprises planned for Switch owners.
