Japanese publisher Nintendo joins other notable developers and publishers in providing relief funding following the catastrophic earthquake that impacted the Noto Peninsula. The earthquake, which erupted on 1st January 2024 (New Year's Day), saw countless lives lost, homes destroyed, and extensive damage to buildings, roads, and other landmarks as emergency rescue support was deployed, according to an updated AP News report.

As the Japanese Red Cross had already actively responded to the catastrophic disaster that hit Japan's west coast, notable developers and publishers have announced donations being made to the Japanese Red Cross. Thus far, Capcom, The Pokémon Company, and Square Enix have already made monetary donations to assist in the earthquake relief fund, which Nintendo has now joined, which was announced on social media.

In a translated post on their official Nintendo Japan account on Twitter, the publisher issued their "deepest sympathies" to all persons impacted by the devastating earthquake in the region. According to an official press release, the publisher announced they would donate 50 million Yen, around $340,000, to assist the Japanese Red Cross in their ongoing relief efforts.

Additionally, Nintendo has offered free repairs on all Nintendo products that were damaged as a result of the earthquake, to which the Disaster Relief Act has been applied. This repair period will be active for six months from 1st January 2024 until 1st July 2024 upon its arrival at a service center, which persons can request online through the online repair reception and delivered to the nearest Nintendo Service Center.

Lastly, Nintendo will cover the costs of repairs for various eligible Nintendo products, regardless of whether they're under warranty. Those who require further assistance can consult the Nintendo Online Inquiry Desk and view the service repair regulations by visiting this website for more information.
