It's been nearly two years since PlayStation held its annual games showcase. While there has been plenty of shorter events in the form of State of Play, PlayStation fans have been clamoring for an E3-style event with multiple world premiers and game announcements for a while.
That may change soon as several recent reports suggest a PlayStation event is finally on the horizon. The company has yet to confirm though here's what we have gathered from all the rumors floating about this hotly anticipated PlayStation showcase.
PlayStation Showcase 2023 start time
While a concrete date and start time are still up in the air, reports suggest that the PlayStation Showcase will be held in late May or early June, right before the Summer Game Fest, which takes place on June 8. State of Plays usually kicks off on Thursdays at 2 pm PT, which means fans could expect a similar timeline for the PlayStation Showcase.
The rumors of a summer PlayStation Showcase began when notable game journalist Jeff Grubb hinted at its possibility on the Giant Bomb podcast. Since then, several industry insiders have acknowledged and fueled this rumor, including Windows Central Jez Corden and VGC's Andy Robinson.
Additionally, on a recent resetera thread, another notable insider, shinobi602, claimed that "a good amount of [PlayStation] teams" are ready to showcase what they have been working on.
PlayStation Showcase 2023 announcements
The last PlayStation Showcase was jampacked with massive game announcements like Final Fantasy 16 and Marvel's Wolverine. The upcoming rumored event could be no different, with multiple reports suggesting reveals like the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake. Other notable candidates are Persona 3 remake, Sucker Punch's next game, and more.
If a PlayStation Showcase is inbound, it would most likely put Marvel's Spider-Man 2 on display, as it's the only PlayStation first-party title scheduled to release this year.
That's all we know about the PlayStation Showcase 2023. We will continue to update this article as more info is available.
