Cosmic horror game Quantic Error announced for PS5

Sony revealed the PlayStation 5's technical specifications earlier this month, and while the console looks less powerful than the Xbox Series X, on paper, there is no doubt the games will be great judging by the current-generation offerings.

Now, the first horror game for the PS5, Quantum Error has been announced, and it looks frighteningly good.

Quantum Error is a "cosmic horror first-person shooter" title developed by TeamKill Media. The game will release on both the PS4 and the PS5.

A release date is currently unknown for the title, however since it’s a cross-gen game, we don’t expect it to release too long after the PS5.

TeamKill Media announced Quantum Error in the video below, featuring some gameplay showcasing the creepy, dark environment, and our first look at some enemies.

It is important to note that all the footage is generated in-engine. It is a work-in-progress and does not represent the final game or gameplay. The game is being created using the Unreal Engine.

Details on this PS4 and PS5 game are scarce. However, it appears the game is set on Earth in 2019, and that it looks to be inspired by Lovecraftian horror.

TeamKill Media released two additional work-in-progress clips on the game's official Twitter account. The first clip showcases the minigun, testing the recoil, particle effects, fire rate, bullet impact marks and screen shake.

In the second clip which you can view below, tests physics collision sounds, explosive barrels, and grenades. It also reveals an interesting detail about the game: 99% of objects in Quantum Error will be physically simulated.

This cross-gen game for PS4 and PS5 already looks very interesting. It reminds us of Prey, with that Lovecraftian feeling of cosmic horror.
