Terraria Bosses - All Bosses and how to defeat

Today we'll go through the list of all the bosses in Terraria, including how to summon and how to defeat them.
Terraria Bosses - All Bosses and how to defeat

A large part of Terraria's challenge is the thrilling and epic boss fights. The game sports seventeen total bosses, seven standard game bosses, and ten hard-mode bosses you need to summon using special items to defeat.

If you're struggling with any of the bosses in the game, this guide will show you exactly how to summon and defeat them. It might require some trial and error, but like anything in the game, with practice and the tips provided in this guide, we have no doubt you'll be victorious.

How to defeat all bosses in Terraria

Here is the list of all bosses in Terraria and an explanation about defeating them.

King Slime

King Slime is a simple boss regarded as the easiest of the lot and can be summoned by using a Slime crown or defeating 150 slimes during a random event called a "slime rain" (slimes will fall from the sky).

It's an easy boss to defeat and requires you to spam it with attacks and avoid it while it jumps around. The boss is a good beginner boss to get you accustomed to the boss fights.

Eye Of Cthulhu

The Eye of Cthulhu is on par with the Slime king in terms of difficulty, but it can catch you off guard if you're not careful. To spawn him, the player has to reach 200HP, and you have at least three NPCs living in your home.

Its attacks involve flying toward you and inflicting damage if it makes contact. The second phase will be a faster version of the first phase, so be ready to evade and counter a lot in this fight.

Eater of Worlds

The Eater Of Worlds is a more challenging boss to defeat. It can be fought only in corruption chasms and will naturally spawn after every third Shadow Orb is broken or if you use a Worm Food.

The boss has 50 segments of its body that can break off and be a nuisance, so we recommend that you use high damage piercing weapons and aim for the head and tail to stop it from breaking off into smaller worms.

Brain Of Cthulhu

Similar to the Eater of worlds, this boss is found in the corruption chasms and can be summoned after breaking three crimson hearts.

To defeat the Brain of Cthulu, stick to ranged attacks as it teleports around and can be hard to fight at close range. During the first phase, you must first destroy the creepers surrounding it before the brain can be defeated.

Queen Bee

Queen Bee can be found underground in any beehive. To summon her, players must destroy bee larvae or use Abeemination anywhere in the jungle biome.

Her attacks are simple to follow, as she darts around vertically and occasionally shoots bees at you; using long-range attacks will deal the most damage. So keep your distance and take out the smaller bees as they come at you to avoid being overwhelmed.

Skeletron

Skeletron is a boss that guards the dungeon entrance and will appear at night after talking to the strange old man near the dungeon. It's worth noting you must kill this boss before sunrise; once summoned, otherwise, you will be killed instantly.

To defeat Skeletron, focus on taking out his arms first and then moving onto the head. We recommend long-range attacks and when the head begins to move more radically after the arms are taken care of, move backwards as you attack it to avoid taking unnecessary damage.

Wall Of Flesh

To summon the Wall of Flesh, you need to head to the underworld, then drop a Guide Voodoo in lava, and the boss will appear to the left or right of you.

It's a large wall of flesh that is as tall as your screen and will move in one direction towards you until it dies. Stay on the move and use long-range attacks to go for the eyes and mouth, killing The Hungry when they appear and leeches when they are spawned.  Be sure you have decent long-ranged weapons and decent armour for this fight.

Hard Mode Bosses

After defeating the Wall of Flesh, the game will be set to hard mode; this means an increased overall difficulty of the game but also a range of ten new bosses to defeat. Below is the list of the bosses for hard mode in Terraria.

 Queen Slime

Queen slime is an optional boss in Hard mode and to summon it requires you to use a Gelatine Crystals found in Pearlstone or Pink Ice blocks in the underground HAllow.

It's a harder version of the King Slime fight and requires the same strategy, only now the slime will fly around and spit out purple slimes that can overwhelm you. Avoid its attacks and attack from a distance while making sure to take out the purple slimes quickly.

The Twins

The Twins are essentially two of the Eye of Cthulhu bosses, Retinizer and Spazmatisim, but with a different move set for each eye. They can be summoned at night only by using a Mechanical eye.

Retinizer uses lasers, and Spazmatisim fires off cursed flames, and both can rush you. It's recommended to take out Spazmatisim first as the cursed flames are harder to doge than lasers, and they deal more damage.

The Destroyer

Similar to the Eater of Worlds, The destroyer is a worm-like boss that can be summoned by using a mechanical worm anywhere at night.

To defeat it, just use ling range piercing attacks; this boss only has one collective health bar, so you don't have to focus on it individual segments like the Eater of Worlds. Just be sure to destroy the probes that spawn when it's damaged and avoid the lasers.

Skeletron Prime

An upgrade on the Skeletron boss you've faced before, only now mechanical and boasting four arms instead of two, and its firepowers increased with a laser, saw and cannon. To summon this beast, use a mechanical skull anywhere at night.

Defeating this boss can be tricky, but if you play it smart by taking out its arms first, then focusing on the head, you should be able to outlast the boss. Also, similarly to Skeletron, if you don't kill this boss by Sunrise, you will automatically be killed by it.

Plantera

Plantera can be summoned by defeating the three mechanical bosses, Skeletron, The Twins and The Destroyer. Then use a Plantera's Bulb in the underground jungle to summon it.

This boss attacks in straight lines, and as long as you keep moving, you will be able to bring it down, if you have ranged weapons, they will help in this fight, but melee players just need to lure it towards them and once it stops moving, hammer away and then run, rinse and repeat.

Golem

Golem can only be fought once Plantera is defeated and you've unlocked the Jungle Temple. Inside, you can use a Lihzarhd Power Cell on one of the altars to summon it.

This boss has two phases; the first will involve you attacking its hands and avoiding its heads attacks. Then the second will require you to attack its body to bring it down while also avoiding the head's attacks.

Empress of Light

Empress of Light is a tough boss, to be sure and can be summoned after Plantera has been killed by killing one of the Prismatic Lacewing at night in the Hallow.

We recommend catching one of the bugs in a net to summon the boss at night when you are prepared. The boss has a bullet-hell style of attacks that range from homing attacks to lasers and charging attacks that can knock off a lot of HP.

She also has a base of 70,000 HP, so we recommend being prepared to dodge and weave for a while, and using high-damage long-range weapons will be vital as getting close to her is a bad idea. The Empress of Light will also instantly kill you if you don't defeat her by sunrise.

Duke Fishron

Duke Fishron is also lorded as one of the hardest fights in Terraria. To summon it, use a Truffle Worm as bait in an ocean biome and a grappling hook to reel it in once caught.

It's recommended that you prepare a platform over the ocean before fighting it and using the best armour set available along with the highest damage long-range weapon you can get, such as the Megashark with Ichor bullets.

To defeat it once spawned, move in a circle around the field and let the duke follow you; as it does, use your long-range attacks to tear down its health and avoid its attacks. Be aware that once at 50% health, it will be more aggressive, so be vigilant of its attacks and the tornados that might spawn over the ocean.

Lunatic Cultist

After the Golem has been defeated, the lunatic Cultist will spawn outside the dungeon entrance and can be summoned by killing the four cultists that spawn first.

To defeat it, avoid the magic attacks as best you can, and when the Cultist duplicates itself, avoid attacking them and focus on the original as that's the only way to deal damage. This boss is difficult to predict with its random cycle of attacks and elemental abilities, so be as vigilant as you can and wear a high defence armour set before attempting it.

Moon Lord

The final boss of the game and the hardest with its massive health pool of 145,000 HP and high damage output. To summon it, you must defeat the four pillars that appear after killing the Lunatic Cultist, or you can use a Celestial Sigil.

To defeat this boss, you must be patient and preserve your health for as long as you can. The boss uses Lasers that can drain your health, it fires off other magic attacks, and once it's in its second phase, it will summon True Eyes of Cthulu that will attack you.

It's best to go for the three eyes first to get the boss into the second phase as quickly as possible. Once you do, you will need to destroy the core; from there, it's just about evading its magic attacks and the Eyes and dealing as much damage to the core until you eventually bring down the Moon Lord.
