After being rumoured for months, a full-fledged remake of the 2013's critically acclaimed narrative action-adventure game, The Last of Us, has been officially confirmed at the Summer Game Fest 2022.

Built from the ground up for next-gen, The Last of Us Remake, aka The Last of Us Part 1, was showcased via an in-engine reveal trailer. And the trailer did a great job highlighting some of the most iconic moments from the nine-year-old PS3 classic.

With that said, here's everything you need to know about the newly announced The Last of Us Remake, including its release date, price, and platforms it would ship on.

When is The Last of Us Remake releasing?

The Last of Us Remake will release on 2nd September 2022. Past leaks seem to point towards a holiday 2022 release window, though a September release date makes a lot more sense given the overly crowded holiday 2022 lineup of games.

What platforms will The Last of Us Remake release on?

As mentioned earlier, The Last of Us Remake has been built from the ground up for next-gen. As such, the game will release only on PS5, with a PC version coming later down the line.

The ongoing shortage of PS5 consoles worldwide means some PS4 owners will be disappointed with this news.

How much will The Last of Us Remake cost?

Unsurprisingly, the Standard Edition of The Last of Us Remake will cost $69.99, whereas the Firefly Edition will cost $99.99. While the steep price may seem a bit jarring to some, considering this is still a remake, PlayStation had made it pretty clear about the pricing of its first-party games at the start of this generation.
