The Matrix Awakens: How to pre-load, download size, start date, time and more

Dubbed as an "Unreal Engine 5 Experience", The Matrix Awakens was recently revealed by Epic Games. While we've already seen what Unreal Engine 5 is capable of in some respects on PS5, thanks to the PlayStation Showcase demo back in 2020, we simply can't wait to enter the Matrix to see how far Epic Games have come.

Described as a "boundary-pushing cinematic and real-time tech demo" that will give us a glimpse into the future of interactive storytelling and entertainment, The Matrix Awakens is definitely an exciting prospect, especially if you are a fan of Keanu Reeves (Neo) and Carrie-Anne Moss (Trinity), as there will be featured performances in this tech demo from the actors.

Created by Epic Games and partners, as well as members of the team who created the original movie, such as Lana Wachowski, fans of The Matrix definitely shouldn't miss out.

How to pre-load The Matrix Awakens

There's some good news and some bad news. Let's pull off the bandaid right now for PC gamers and those stuck on a PS4 or Xbox One. The Matrix Awakens pre-load is, at the time of writing, only available for those on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Despite only being a Tech Demo, The Matrix Awakens has a download size akin to that of some full AAA games.

The Matrix Awakens tech demo - Release date & time

Update: The Matrix Awakens was released in the early hours of the morning on 10th December and you can play it right now.

Unfortunately, there is no exact release date and time for The Matrix Awakens just yet.

The Tech Demo was fully revealed during The Game Awards 2021. It is an open-world affair, with mind-bending graphics which you can play right now.
