Total War: Warhammer III brings long-awaited Daemons of Chaos

After a number of cryptic teasers, Creative Assembly has officially announced Total War: Warhammer III, the final chapter in the hugely popular Total War: Warhammer trilogy.

And yes, it’s official: The Ruinous Powers have deigned to unleash their most loyal servants, the long-awaited Daemons.

Total War: Warhammer III was revealed with an ominous trailer full of Warhammer’s ever-present grim darkness. We saw glimpses of the Great Unclean Ones, and Lords of Change and Keepers of Secrets were unveiled. Oh, and Bloodthirsters. Blood for the Blood God indeed.

Standing against them is a surprise new faction, Kislev. Always a minor faction with limited tabletop presence in old school Warhammer Fantasy, Kislev have been given a glamourous overhaul by the devs at Creative Assembly.

Mighty polar bear mounts and hardy armoured warriors make up the ranks of these stalwart northerners, backed up by the potent and ruthless magic of their infamous ice witches. Leading the charge appears to be the Ice Queen of Kislev herself, Tzarina Katarin Bokha, who takes centre stage in the reveal trailer.

She’ll need all her considerable might, considering her opponent in the cinematic is none other than an aforementioned Greater Daemon of Khorne. Sadly, we’ll have to wait for the game’s release before we know who triumphs out of a Bloodthirster and the mightiest of Ice Witches.

The exact release date for Warhammer III is still unknown, nor are all the additional factions that are slated to be included in the game beyond Daemons and Kislev confirmed as of writing. That said, Ogres are a near certainty, and the likes of Chaos Dwarves, Cathay and Araby all swirling in community conversation.

Until Creative Assembly see fit to give us more information, we’ll have to make do with the trailer.
